From what is reported M1 and StarHub did a joint venture bid for 5G network. They will share the same wireless spectrum, but as to whether both telco are riding on the same network infrastructure, I am not too sure but I don’t think it’s the same.

Free 5G SIM card or free replacement will be up to how the telco want to offer. I think likely will have.

That is interesting. Maybe M1 will let Circles.Life use their NSA network while keeping SA exclusive for themselves?

I didn’t know M1 had 5G NSA rolled out already so this is new to me. M1 themselves also stopped offering 5G NSA.

As at 1st April 2022, M1 has ceased our offerings on non-standalone (NSA) 5G

seriously why do they stop offering that? SA and NSA cannot coexist to give customers options to use both when one is not available?

IMDA wanted SA only all along.
SingTel and StarHub managed to convince them to use NSA probably quite late in the game, and M1 did not invest into NSA much.

I see.

I do not see a prob with NSA since it will still give much better speed than 4G. It is understandable why telcos want to go for NSA Becos of the high cost to implement SA.

if they can get full coverage of NSA and then slowly implement SA not a big issue seriously.

to consumer it is overkilled.

importantly to most customers the price is then the key. If NSA but price remains at 4G one I believe a lot of will be more than happy instead of paying extra for 5G that most ppl do not really take advantage of it for basic video streaming or web surfing.

Seeing the current trend, since customers don't know what's the difference, MVNOs will get NSA and still charge $7 or so premium at least for now. It's not free access.

Which MNOs get SA and charge $10+ premium (except M1)

ya that’s why.

becos of the extra cost. I believe a lot of customers would rather stay with 4G and enjoy the cheap price as low as $9 to $10 for light users or at most $17 to $18 for a decent 50GB plan for moderate users.

Seriously coverage is more of concern to most than the speed.
To play a full hd video on YouTube one just needs at most 6Mbps of stable. Not to mention about normal web surfing.

I would rather my video steaming while on mrt can be done without any pausing in between. To be frank, given the small geographical area of lion city, no telcos can even fully cover every corner yet. Sinktel is the best as of now but again still not perfect.

how good and reliable is 4G data with circles life?
I'm on myrepublic at the moment but getting so many issues.
thinking of leaving MR

I used to be at M1 and things were better, but plan was overpriced (2x more than MR for essentially the same)
I guess you get what you pay for? but there has to be a middle ground somewhere

In my experience, M1 Postpaid have similar priority as Circles.Life

While MyRepublic / Changi Mobile / GeeNet / M1 Maxx have way lower priority.

This might explain the huge drop in reliability on MR.

circles life is fine but if to use as main line, it lacks of free sms for the plans they offer.

but their data only plan looks quite attractive.
i can use it for my ipad pro 2022.

50GB for $10 forever.

besides, for circles life if turn off the auto boost function, once i finished 50GB, it will not incur additional charges rite?

m1 network is not good comparing to singtel, but with this $10 plan, i can switch my main line (zym) to $9.90 plan which gives me enough data for my main line. so one month i spend $20 for two lines on both my iphone and ipad pro.

I think yes, once u disable autoboost, once 50GB ends, it'll disconnect the data until the next bill cycle.
