Agree that dealers should not seek to profit from a Coe+car package. Don't see other countries doing this.

they dont really profit from high coe. they just dont give a sh!t about coe prices, keep bidding the highest price and make sure they have enough coe to sell their cars fast.

I think govt need to implement satelite charging per km travelled on cars. Plus a fix component of coe. Say coe 40k (bidding as per normal) and per km ran is $0.50.

As it is now.....you need to put down payment of 50% car loan

Plus COE no financing. You probably will be booking at putting almost 60-70% of the car as a down payment.

But this is where the govt is failing.

They still have not realised the fact that if they have a good and efficient public transport.

Why would people wanna pay for a car?

I don't wanna compare SG with some other countries. Let's use HK as an example which closely emulate us in terms of size, population, density and earning.

In terms of public transport, HK is ahead of us...

Cars is expensive there but I think they are managing it well without coe and all these crap.

over there the carpark lot owner r the earner, not their gov. so our gov is way smarter in this aspect by earning frm all car owners by introducing virtual papers called COE!!

reduce COE for lorry, motorcycle and open.

Overall is similar for cars.
but big percentage decline on lorry and motorcycle.

Singapore only solution to COE is to drastically reduced dependent on FT. Less crowd, less pple buy car. Less traffic jams. Less squeezing on MRT. Less over crowding in Orchard area.

So the root of the problem starts when our Govt open the ******* flood gate.

Singaporeans really too much. When coe is high they complain cannot afford cars,

when government implement changes to coe to bring it down, they complain about FTs now can afford more cars.

No way to please people like this.....
