COE will be hard to get lower. The reason is that the buds are put in by the sellers not the buyers. These car sellers don't really make that much commission just from selling car alone. Normally it is the loan from banks that gives these sellers large commission. So it is in their interest for COE to go high hence a bigger loan. Bigger loans mean bigger commission. Maybe LTA should put something in place to stop this.
I could be wrong about this practice but I think it is still in place

agree with you. buyers could bid for their own COE, but then you'll have to pay cash upfront. Buying through car dealers allow you to take loan, including COE cost.

In any case, why would the govt do anything that would endanger their COE cash cow? It is working perfectly for them now?

With the 50% downpayment, people are already paying cash upfront, varying from $50k to $100k. That's as good as paying cash for COE.

Very well said. Dealers make more from loan and insurance and COE fluctuation than selling the cars.

Do you know how many rich people there are in SG?

30-100k cash is no big deal to them especially those who sold their properties at a high. These people are sitting on cash of a few hundred ks.

Jwee: motorcycle is one of the higher demand. Your chances are slim compare to other categories

i still have hope that LTA will reverse the 15% deduction of motorcycle quota to give to Cat.E.

Motorcyle deregistered quota should be 100% return back to the motorcycle pool.
Some idiotic scholars who dont ride bike, must have make this unfair rule.

today motorcycle COE will crash to $1.
