Ask this again. Motorshow occurs 1 day after jan 1st bidding. Will they price the motorshow price only after the bidding results are out? Or it will be decided before that?
It will mostly be decided before hand. Otherwise, they won't have time to print brochures with pricelists.
If market swing too much, and they need to adjust, they can always use a desktop printer to print a list of "Latest Prices!!!", then staple on the brochures.
Those with signboards declaring a certain price, simply use spray can to strike through the old price and spray the new price.
Other things to consider:
1) They also do the same thing for promotions, year end sales etc.
2) Jan 1st bid low or high does not guarantee 2nd bid will be the same. People see this round CoE low, more will consider buying a car, then next bid go up due to demand upz. Then still got those downpayment in Nov/Dec leow, waiting for their 8 bids, who will prop up demand also. A number of factors, I layman, buay hiao predict
3) Since dealers are in this business and have friends in the same circle to share info, they can make better informed predictions
4) If I am right, bidding as companies, they also have ex-stock CoE they bidded in past months which they can use. So they got do hedging one
