What do you think?
I think that for accepting the extra egg on his nasi-padang, he should give out 10 free eggs to needy residents during his meet people session, any other suggestions?...
How come this thread is not edmw?!!!
If u want, take photo, ask stall holder for discount so the silly Mr Baey will stop boasting about frequently getting discounts lor...

The stall owner might be trying to curry-favor the MP in question. Or he might be trying to fool the MP in thinking that the cost of living is not that bad and the MP could 'look the other way' when complaints come in. Then the stall owner could increase his food prices freely. These are my personal thoughts. :)

Ts, here is my thoughts. The 'allegation' that the MP accepted public favor (that in itself needs to be defined) is based primarily on personal experiences that you can't get this much nasi pandang at $2.50. For it to be proven, this hypothesis has to be tested.

Anyway, there are better things to do. I also know where to get cai fan with 2 meat n 1 veg less than or around $2.50. Hard to find but not impossible.

Campaign needed to make food portions and prices transparent?

Just like courtesy campaign, govt should start another one to advise shops to public ally list their food prices, either in menu or signboard form, many stale I know do this already so if this Tampines nasi padang one doesn't, it should just be boycotted, otherwise, someone free enough would easily embarrass the MP by publicing the stalls price lists sign board and ask dear MP what he did for charity today, his connections and appointment having earned him a $3.50 discount (off his $200K or ao annual salary) for the food he so proudly enjoyed.

Good, next time when you are out for lunch/dinner or even tea break. Make sure you pay for your own share!

"Then came the parliamentary debate. Goh Chok Tong got up and proclaimed that there was no impropriety on the part of Lee Kuan Yew and Lee Hsien Loong in their purchase of the condos. Richard Hu echoed Goh's sentiments and exonerated the Lees of any wrong doing.

During the parliament session, Lee started going on and on about how much his wife was worth ($20 million in his estimate), how a hawker selling char kuay teow would upon seeing him give two eggs intead of one, and how tailors would be falling head over heels to try to clothe him. He said almost everything except answer the real questions about the involvement of his whole family in the purchases
and the breach of regulations by HPL."

Of cos if koxinga is not working for the government or if letting partners pay for lunch/dinner is acceptable in his company, koxinga need not pay for his own share.

whether its bribe or not. its nt impt.
its the stupidity of the MP.
he shld know that such things are very sensitive for ppl in his position.

theres so much potential conflict of interest that can be quoted or "gain favorable relationship" with the MP for future use.

of coz, his ignorance of 50 cents bandung and 2.5 for the price of nasi padang just show how sad it is.

if he had said that he got a discount. it will hv been a smaller storm in a tea cup.

i help u correct ur statement.

better dun ask for discount when buying things nextime if u hv a potential conflict of interest.
eg..
NEA officers asking for cheaper price, CRA officers asking for MBS lower requiirement for member card access, Custom officers asking for duty free price + discount, or any procurement officers asking for further discount for personal purchase

these actions are just asking for trouble.

It's the Internet after all. Too many factors.

- The guy might not be honest; have a knife to grind with Baey.
- Hawker might simply give bigger discount.
- Hawker might have asked for wrong amount.
- Etc.

Actually its not so much on corruption.

Having an extra egg means nothing.
Its the ignorance of the MP about the grounds that is shocking.

Most people know nasi Padang is an expensive hawker food. By saying he got those for $2.50, we all know that it is impossible but the way he said was like nasi Padang only $2.50.

Which in turn a light hearted incident actually shows that he is very shallow as he did not really walk the grounds and none of his grassroots actually help him out on this by telling him what is the market rate for nasi Padang. I am sure if he knew, he would not have posted $2.50
But if he knew and yet still do it, then i seriously think he should walk more see more and hear more.

You are right. If they attend a wedding dinner. Make sure he ask for the exact price and pay exactly the share he ate! (pay more is also consider as corruption).

One more thing, ensure GST is also included !
