you have to watch out even as pedestrians. due to inflation, some phv drivers and cabbies are getting frustrated. they vent their anger by nearly knocking you down, or outright bang you. you are not safe even inside buildings, carparks or traffic light crossings

honestly in singapore road it is not for cyclist because a few reason.

1. the road is too crowded with vehicles

2.there not much cyclist lane on the road.

3. road user drive very fast and dont care about other road user

4. cyclist also have this mindset like they own the road and sometimes cycles in the middle of the road
Hit and run is already an offence. Whether or not is driver's fault for the accident, he's already guilty of at least 1 traffic offence.

Cyclist Dies After Nicoll Highway Accident On 19 Dec

A 45-year-old cyclist has passed away after an alleged hit-and-run accident at Nicoll Highway on Tuesday (19 Dec).

The accident occurred in the early morning and paramedics initially conveyed the cyclist unconscious to the hospital.
Sadly, he died there later. The police have since arrested a 33-year-old driver.

Early morning accident on 19 Dec

According to The Straits Times (ST), the police received an alert regarding an accident involving a car and bicycle on Nicoll Highway towards Guillemard Road at 5.07am on Tuesday (19 Dec).

Details surrounding the accident are unclear. However, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told ST that they conveyed a person to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The person — evidently the cyclist — was reportedly unconscious at the time. He later passed away in the hospital, though the exact time and cause of death are undisclosed.

The police arrested a 33-year-old driver for dangerous driving causing death. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Hopefully, the investigations will shed some light on what happened and bring some closure to the cyclist’s loved ones. MS News extends our sincere condolences to them.
No video no talk

The article always write as if the drivers are always at fault

Agree.

A lot of cyclist on the road but found TP nowhere.

Are they doing their job?
park along double yellow line also not their problem anymore
looks like their main role is only escort
and stalk out at expressway shoulder

Moi use NH every morning and there are one or two cyclists that take up left lane between 8.15 to 8.45. One of the cyclist will filter lanes to next lane when cars are traveling around 40 to 60

moi always think if they are leaving their life to some kuku drivers

Anyway…. Moi sleep well

The police isn’t doing much things to protect both cyclist n motorists by allowing cyclists in highway where car drivers will least expect them to be
Esp those with slope

cyclists shldnt even be allowed on highway n flyover
Their speed already can’t match
So small in size
Hog up traffic
Put themselves n everyone else in danger
no stern action taken by our Gov. for these cyclist.

Drove past that day, saw the car bumper already fell off and other cyclists just standing in the middle of the road directing traffic which is quite dangerous as during that time still quite dark

Need to filter a bit out
Bus lane liked no bus lane when u have a slow moving cyclist on the lane
Any prob is bus driver prob

why do they allow this?!
say responsibility on driver
Driver need to open door close door
Move on see traffic etc
Also need to handle suddenly zoom past them cyclists? Earn also not a lot of money but so many life n death things on hands

y r cyclist even allowed on highways

they r a danger to everyone and themselves if allowed on these roads
Agree. It is unfortunate that cyclists are allowed on highways such as Nicoll Highway and West Coast Highway. Cyclists are only banned from expressways.

The authorities should reclassify / upgrade these highways to become expressways. Cyclists would then be barred from these roads. Cyclists have no business to be on these fast moving roads.
