Bro one look can tell you don't drive or use the road. If my intention is to go straight, what for I hog the left turn lane and block other road users? Don't be selfish lah bro, have a big heart and be consideration to other road users.

Mr Lawrence Choo, 45, founding member of cycling enthusiast groups 10101010 and Faber X, suggested that the guideline for motorists to adhere to a minimum distance of 1.5m when passing cyclists on roads be passed into law, so that it can be enforced like the group cycling rules.

He added that drivers should learn that cyclists also have a right to be on the roads.

Mr Kiki Matthias Cheng, founder of cycling enthusiast group Riding Kakis (Singapore), said it may be more effective to influence cyclists to become role models who “walk the ground” and advocate safer cycling practices within their cycling groups.

The 52-year-old operations director added that this could help “activate” the cycling community in spreading good cycling practices, compared with a top-down approach through law enforcement.

Mr Khaw and Mr Ng both suggested building more dedicated cycling infrastructure, such as cycling lanes that allow road users to give cyclists the right of way.

Come, let me educate you. When there are more than 2 lanes on the road, cyclists will take up one whole lane for the reason of safety riding. Heard of defensive riding in motorbike? Yes, same concept. It's not against the law, it's for other road user's safety as well.

Who are the "they"? Not me, not my friends, not anyone I know of. But we do want the government to advocate a safe environment for the cyclists. Build better infrastructure that benefits not only the cyclists, but drivers as well.

Talk bird words ??? They got the right to be on the road,yes but are for those who keep left on the lane near the pavement, for ppl who cycle to work, for law following riders and not for cyclists who ride in the centre of each lanes or a hoard who occupied multiple lanes..

And how to expect drivers keep 1.5m from cyclists, like that traffic jam everywhere.... will cripple the whole transport system and more accidents will heppen for sure.

solo cyclists are a bane to hog a lane,
not unlawful, an unsightly selfish behavior, deserving of insults many times.
motorbike argument? a road cyclist is not as safe and as fast as one.

even if they keep really left, i will also give them wide enough space when i pass them. some times they may be wobbly as well, hard to predict if they will suddenly swerve into your path when u pass them

There could be dedicated cycling infrastructure but it will be limited due to space constraint and the actual amount of usage. The upcoming North South Expressway would have such infrastructure but that's about all, and it should remain as such.

Fact of the matter is that only a very small group of people is able to replace public transport with cycling. The distance, weather and not to mention individual attributes are key factors. Those tour de france wannabes should stick to dedicated routes in Changi or Seletar, or cycle during the wee hours whereby they do not hold up traffic and be so detested.
