Even non drivers detest cyclists who hold up traffic. All you need are two cyclists who decided to exercise their god given right to cycle two abreast on a two lane road during peak hours.

Two person can hold up a bus of 80 pax.

And cyclists wonder why people detest them so much?

There could be dedicated cycling infrastructure but it will be limited due to space constraint and the actual amount of usage. The upcoming North South Expressway would have such infrastructure but that's about all, and it should remain as such.

Fact of the matter is that only a very small group of people is able to replace public transport with cycling. The distance, weather and not to mention individual attributes are key factors. Those tour de france wannabes should stick to dedicated routes in Changi or Seletar, or cycle during the wee hours whereby they do not hold up traffic and be so detested.

Yes, why should taxpayer money be spent on kilometres and kilometres of cycling paths? Is MOT committed to a reduction in the number of cars on the road by having more cyclists? If so, what is the target figure? If cannot achieve, will the Minister be accountable? Can the Minister or top civil servants' bonuses be clawed back if the KPIs are not met later?

Often, taxpayer money is spent cos the idea is sexy. But no one is accountable. At the same time, we say that we need more money for aging population and healthcare and hence increase GST to help fund it. Every penny counts. We should focus on die die must haves, not nice to have.

These people are a nuisance. Others cycle to work or run errands, while these vermins cycle in a big group on the road blocking vehicles.

Exactly, single riders cycling for work/errand, I can respect. But most idiots behave just kings of the road and hogging and taking up entire lane for for their pleasure, these are the vermins

It would not be hard to spend some effort to stake out the routes, either on overhead bridges, nearby HDB blocks or even at the pavement, to capture video evidence of the cyclists who break the rules and send it over to LTA.

A single video is not enough. This has to be coordinated with multiple cameras along the route so provide irrefutable evidence that the infringement persisted over a period of time and over distance.

These cycling founders should advocate and push for 3rd party insurance for cyclists so that when things happen, motorist gets a bit of assurance for payment.
