Think if ride alot may observed, local road not always can keep to the left. At times keep left even more dangerous cause the road condition very poor, with the left side raised, crack and bulging or sunken, if not drain railing and cover causing such condition. All sorts of condition making it not as smooth and safe to ride all the way on the left.

That why sometimes can see some swing out at times, to avoid such. Vehicle with the shock absorber may not feel it that much, but its more obvious with bicycle. Others tend just ride more to the center of the lane to totally avoid such troublesome road. Still, think if concern for own safety more will try keep left as much as possible.

As for right turn, think keep left wait for right arrow then turn right from left side while other straight traffic stopped, tend is more safer than keep right try turn right with all the others fast moving motor vehicles. If not possible then safer to just use the pedestrian crossing. But there will be others who don't.

For right turns, I take the middle of the lane while waiting to turn so that I won't be squeezed to the middle lane.

Precisely the same as cycling on PCNs which is why you don't see road bikes on PCNs using them.
Go on some PCN rock like don't know what. Especially connecting points between different surfaces and crossing. Butt is painful even with MTB fatter tires. Don't say other bicycles. Unless its those fatboy bike maybe got some better cushioning. Cannot be need to stand at every little bump bah.

Thus, some who build such path simply don't get it, probably never really ride much to observe much. Its even more sensitive for other lesser vehicle without shock absorber. The surface needs to be as smooth as the road, if not better.

My experience is not too bad lei. Yea not so smooth but aren’t u cycling for fitness? Undulating terrain train your muscles but affects speed.
Where got time cycle for leisure. Its to get places. But as long as cycle got some fitness bah. So, the journey counts. Beyond certain speed even slight bump amplifies alot in typical bicycle without fat tires or shock absorber.

The people who design PCNs dont even cycle lol, they only drive cars thats why.

No lei. I see a lot cycle for leisure

My experience is more from north to east side though. Kranji to Woodlands to Sembawang to Seletar to Punggol and Changi village and East Coast.

Rarely do I go west or even central or south (except garden by the bay)

Bus already slow on the road if need to drive behind cyclist then everyone on the bus will be late. Its not easy for bus to change lane and pick up speed to overtake a group of cyclists.

Think not as much as people who cycle for purpose, to get places. Those cycle for leisure once in a blue moon then go over the route tend won't bother notice such one. Those who use it for work and such one tend notice the comfort level of the surface travel on. Cause they do it regularly, some almost everyday, the quality of the ride matter, can be easily felt. :s22:

Middle of the lane as in middle of right or right most lane?

Think its quite a feat, if not danger, at times to even try filter the bicycle across to the right lane in busy traffic. Can easily get hit by the faster and more powerful motor vehicle going straight, before even getting to the right. Got saw before those faster ebike also can get into accident with vehicles on the right turn lane. Don't say slower bicycle.

Thus think given that left most lane is typically safest in most traffic, if need turn right, its better to start the turn from there. Where straight going vehicle stopped, right turn arrow up. So the path is clear all the way for bicycle to move from left more to middle of the junction and turn on the outer left of the vehicles turning right.

But need to be careful not to veer too far left cross the middle path, as need to look out for opposite right turn vehicles also. Some may forget there are opposite vehicles turning also. Worse when its a lorry or bus, as they tend need to take a wider turn, and eat into opposing vehicle path, so need to give them more space.

However, not every junctions this is possible. Some the straight going vehicle still ongoing when right turn arrow come up. This kind can only LLST wait and use the pedestrian crossing if want to be safer.
