The correct question is which party has the most to lose? If another 4 or 8 yrs under DPP, KMT might not survive another onslaught under Lai.
KMT Zhu will definitely be replaced as President of KMT next party election.
DPP will instigate another 罢免 to Hou post as Mayor just like what they did to Han after he lost the P.E
Ke has no post and probably still gain more voters and TPP will gain more voters after the net P.E

KMT has much more to lose....which is why KP bo hiew them for many months till he signed the agreement last week at a moment of weakness....

KP already has a backup in Terry...so KMT has to offer a better option for him...and the only better option they can offer him is Ke Hou pei...

he genuinely is ok with being the VP when he signed that agreement...but in the end the results is 3:3...if results is 4:2...no doubt he would have accepted being the VP now...

but Hou is just a very bad candidate...give him 3mins headstart he still lose...so at that point...to KP rather than conceding even more and convince his supporters to vote for someone they dont like...he feel it is better to just go on his own and hope that Terry join forces with him...

I dun think he is the victim as he is portraying himself.
He may be playing it difficult to gain more leverage from KMT.
He should be playing hard to predict and get at the moment.

We will find out what game he is playing tomorrow.
