It actually serves more harm to Lai s re-election bid to keep Ko in jail than otherwise. I cannot imagine him not knowing it. Have to conclude his hatred for Ko (for humiliating him during the presidential debates) must be so strong that it transcended any rationality.

His lackeys probably convinced him of that already, hence u see the court maintaining the original bail and bail amount now, leaving Ko free for now.
