Ukraine will allow deserters to return to service unpunished

First-time deserters will be allowed to return to military service unpunished as part of a new bill passed by Ukraine's parliament on Thursday.

Under the bill, soldiers who have deserted the military or are absent without official leave (AWOL) will not be penalised if they choose to return to their units voluntarily.

All criminal cases against them will be dropped, while their wages and social benefits will be restored.

The new legislation is part of a raft of measures designed to replenish the ranks of a Ukrainian military drained by its ongoing conflict with Russia.

In October, the Kyiv Independent news outlet reported that the government aimed to draft a further 160,000 people into the Ukrainian Armed Forces to boost troop numbers.

Those kena force to go frontline can try to awol since 1st timer won't be punished.

ya, this Biden really very wicked. Before stepping down, suddenly go and escalated the whole situation by granting Ukraine the rights to use US donated weapons to attack Russia instead of using for defense
USA is playing Good Cop / Bad Cop. He deliberately make things difficult for Trump Administration. Then Trump now comes in as the "Good Cop"

This is bs lah. Why would they need to use an icbm on Ukraine? End to end Ukraine only ard 1300km wide. Well within the range of most of putin's medium range missile. An icbm with conventional payload isn't actually much more powerful than most mrbm. Maybe just a few hundred kg more of explosive? Doesn't really justify shooting one at your neighbour where there are more economical options.

And btw, mrbms can also be nuclear tipped. So why shoot an icbm?
Bcos ICBM is more likely to penetrate air defences due to higher entry velocity and it can carry higher payload. Thought it's way more expensive to produce. A bit too early for a Christmas present eh? :sneaky:

Russia is winning on the eastern front so there’s nothing in it for them to escalate at the moment. red line or not, not getting trolled is their best move here.

On November 21, Russia used the latest Russian medium-range hypersonic missile system "Oreshnik" in a non-nuclear version to strike the Dnieper , Putin said.

According to him, there are no air defense systems capable of shooting down such missiles.

He called the use of the Oreshnik a response to Western long-range strikes on the Russian Federation and to US plans to produce and deploy medium- and short-range missiles.

He stated that the Russian Federation “will warn civilians in advance in the event of the use of systems such as Oreshnik.”
