DPM Gan Kim Yong says he’s #NotAStranger to making Singapore better

In a video post on Facebook, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, who is part of the PAP team running in Punggol GRC, said he is no stranger to making Singapore better.

The long-time anchor minister for Chua Chu Kang GRC was redeployed to Punggol at the last minute before nominations closed.

After his teammate Sun Xueling said at a rally that “we do not need strangers to come to Punggol”, alluding to the rival WP team who is contesting in the constituency for the first time, WP candidate Alexis Dang hit back at another rally, asking: “Is she referring to DPM Gan Kim Yong, too?”

GE2025: Parties need to return to ‘core issues’ of election campaign, says Chan Chun Sing

Education Minister Chan Chun Sing on Wednesday (Apr 30) criticised certain parties for claiming credit for certain government policies, adding that this also happened during the COVID-19 pandemic and the current global tariffs situation.

The system is stable; PAP will still govern
We have to agree to disagree there bro! The system is oppressive and the man in the street Singaporean sold out; PAP should have been voted out 2 GEs ago!

As a fellow Singaporean, I believe voting for the opposition isn’t about tearing down the government—it’s about making it better. PAP has done a lot for Singapore, but no single party should have a blank cheque forever. By supporting the opposition, we’re pushing for stronger checks and balances, more accountability, and voices in Parliament that truly reflect our everyday struggles—rising costs, job security, and care for our ageing parents. The system is stable; PAP will still govern, but a stronger opposition means better debate, better policies, and a government that listens more closely. If we want real change and progress that puts people first, it starts with our vote.
Plus for d next generation

Workers' Party (WP) candidate Andre Low apologised on Wednesday (Apr 30) for his "inappropriate" language and remarks after his Telegram messages were leaked on social media. He apologised to the voters of Jalan Kayu SMC and said he didn’t want to give excuses for the language he used.

“That was a different time of my life. I believe I have matured since then. I hope voters can see that,” Mr Low said while speaking to media during a walkabout.

Screenshots of the messages posted on Reddit and Facebook on Tuesday night showed the #GE2025 WP candidate swearing about a resident he had called in Meet-The-People Session work, as well as the civil service and fighter jets. He also criticised TraceTogether, Singapore brands like SecretLab and Prism, media personalities Pornsak Prajakwit and Mark Lee, and tennis player Novak Djokovic. Mr Low also swore about former DBS CEO Piyush Gupta, property agents, Singtel, StarHub and Apple.

IMO only WP has the most credible candidates; the rest honestly i feel quite cmi…
I think PSP, and maybe certain members from CSJ’s party, are rising and worth keeping an eye on. However, many of their candidates still need to brush up and polish their presentation.

As for the other parties, honestly, the way some of their members behave and speak comes across like typical kopitiam uncles and aunties, very casual and rough. If they want to be taken seriously on the national stage, they really need to work on their public image and perhaps even consider training, like joining Toastmasters, to improve their public speaking and communication skills.

As has been the case nearly every day of this campaign period, thundery showers in the afternoon are forecast to give way to cloudy skies in the evening. Follow us for updates on delays to rallies due to the rain.

Either way, break out those flip-flops if you are heading anywhere, especially tonight’s rallies.

WP has expertise to run the town council: Faisal Manap

c5c8cc.png

WP’s Mr Faisal Manap reassured voters that the party’s candidates contesting Tampines GRC and Tampines Changkat SMC have the ability to run the town council if elected.

Speaking to reporters during a walkabout, he compared the members of the team to fingers of a hand, with each bringing different skills but working together.

Responding to a question on how the WP’s Tampines team feels about PAP senior leaders visiting the constituency, Mr Faisal said: “It shows that our presence does bring some form of competition.”

He then cited the analogy of a co-driver first used by former WP chief Low Thia Khiang in 2011.

“There’s a driver here, so if the driver doesn’t drive the car well, you need to… slap the driver. So that is the purpose of us coming.”
