What you need to know about Cooling-off Day on May 2

The day before Polling Day, known as Cooling-off Day, falls on Friday, May 2.

On that day, campaigning activities and election advertising are not allowed so that voters can reflect on issues raised during the campaign period before casting their vote.

ST unpacks what is allowed – and what is not – during this cooling-off period.

GE2025: Parties need to return to ‘core issues’ of election campaign, says Chan Chun Sing

Education Minister Chan Chun Sing on Wednesday (Apr 30) criticised certain parties for claiming credit for certain government policies, adding that this also happened during the COVID-19 pandemic and the current global tariffs situation.

Rain, rain, go away! Evening showers disrupt rallies across S’pore

The thundery showers this evening have disrupted rallies slated to start shortly, with at least one being delayed.

Red Dot United’s rally at the open field beside Chinese Garden MRT station was delayed due to a lightning risk alert.

Mr Fazli Talip, the opposition party’s candidate for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, was spotted soaked on stage as he announced the delay at about 7.05pm. Several attendees were also seen seeking shelter at a nearby overhead bridge.

Over at Beacon Primary School, where the PAP rally for Bukit Panjang SMC is held, about 100 volunteers, members of the public and media personnel were hiding from the rain at the school’s sheltered canteen at about 7pm.

At the Home of Athletics, where the PAP rally for Mountbatten SMC is being held, volunteers were seen drying seats and removing water puddles from a canvass.

In this 5-part GE2025 special series, WP candidates will take you through policy discussions on key topics from our manifesto.

For the last episode, join WP candidates Gerald Giam, Andre Low, Sufyan Mikhail Putra, Eileen Chong, and Kenneth Foo, as they talk about how Singapore can strengthen its internal resilience and external defence – by building up local capabilities, better utilisation of security budgets, and anchoring our foreign policy in principled, forward-looking diplomacy.

And that’s our final episode! Thanks for joining us.

For candidate’s profiles, WP Manifesto 2025, merchandise, and all things GE2025, visit our official website: https://www.wp.sg/

Oppo votes exceeding 50% is a clear and present danger. They have no experience in running public service or teaming in a coalition.

If you are angry and wish to slap PAP, cornering them to 57-60% is good enough.

Don't take on excessive risk.
Think PAP popular votes will be 54-60% this election because there is also contest with mosquito parties which they can get above 65% of the votes
