i think dr chee has been unfairly depicted in media, i met him in real life, he sound pretty sensible.
He is one pappies feared.
Even Denise Phua was caught on TV asking lw to help in the debate with Chee Soon Juan.

If opposition wants to contest, wants to oppose, they should come up with a solution. We are paying them next time if they win.
any non party suggestion will always be put down

Just look at the suggestion to make all FnB to list FINAL price also dropped with stupid excuses.

Go in also can't do anything if his party is not the ruling party.

Additional, they are not given seats in the ministries, limited power.
Opposition not ready for a complete take over of the gov now. But the time will come one day.

For now, denying pappies 2/3 majority is good enough.

NCM should get the hint he is not wanted by the ppl & stay out of the GE. For a minister to be booted out is very xia suay & still want to come back is very thick skinned.
He don’t mind thick skinned for the million dollar salary :o

Opposition oppose for the sake of opposing. Any solution from him?

Such argument is really moot and practically flawed. Within any society, there will always be groups of people thriving and groups of people struggling to cope. Can opposition just say that the incumbent is not doing their jobs just because there are groups of people struggling to cope? I think it's a flawed argument. Then did the opposition credit the incumbent for the groups that actually thrived under this regime? How many are thriving and how many are coping?

Are those edmwers struggling to go overseas vacations twice per years and must attend Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga concerts or Coldplay concerts "just coping". It's a big vague and flawed contention...🙏

I said before. It’s possible the rich and new citizens are voting opposition. It just cannot be accepted because the only possibility then is that it’s true blue sinkies staying in hdb voting for PAP.
The COL affects the economic refugees as well.

Just need to go around telling those economic refugees you know about the taxes implemented by pappies. Very sure it will turn them off.

I am VERY SURE economic refugees will know more about the taxes they have to pay directly or indirectly compared to the average sinkie

Will he contest?

Jackie Wong, a resident of High Park Residences condominium, told AsiaOne that he wasn't aware of Ng's visit to the area.

Wong, an IT officer, did feel that it was likely Ng was trying to contest for the seat, but he wasn't looking forward to it.

"I don't like the People's Action Party (PAP)," the 51-year-old said bluntly, adding that he would vote for the opposition as long as he can.

He hopes that the opposition will be able to address bread-and-butter issues such as cost of living and inflation.

But another resident, Johnson Tong, said that although he didn't know about Ng's house visits because he was overseas, he feels that would be a sign that he might be trying to contest for the seat.

"He contested Sengkang GRC, so I think he should be quite familiar with this area… I think it would be good for him to contest for the Jalan Kayu SMC," the 36-year-old senior account manager said.

He said that the opposition has a fighting chance, saying that are more younger people in the area

:s14:
A lot of oppo supporters, in the end pap still got the mandatep🤣

As long as there is no culling of wildlife eg. crows, roosters, Asian koels, crocodiles, otters & snakes, I will vote the party that does not "flash" openly in the public. These wildlife animals are not supposed to be coexisting in our HDB estates since they don't pay any property taxes and service & conservancy charges to the town councils. I have enough of their nonsense regarding animal rights which superceded the rights of citizens..

This is very unlikely, since they benefit from asset appreciation from their condos, the last thing they need is lower condo prices after election
Asset appreciation is meaninglessness if they only own the one property they stay in. Two neighbours I spoke to are retirees. They are particularly hit hard by the covid and gst hike induced cost of living increases. May even downgrade to HDB to fund living expenses.

He can talk on the topic but without coming out with any feasible solutions......?

Singapore should start to implement trilingual education for the young ones from secondary school onwards.

Malay words & language should be taught & learnt by all non-Malays.
If Malay words & language is the mother tongue, Chinese words & Mandarin language to be the alternative.

Chee Hong Tat, Chairman of the PAP Policy Forum (PPF), urged Singaporeans to grant the People’s Action Party a strong mandate to govern. This is crucial to secure a stable and prosperous future for Singapore amidst the volatile and challenging external landscape.

“In an environment like this where there are a lot of ups and downs and uncertainties, you want to project stability, a sense of unity to our own people, [and] also to investors.” he told activists.

A strong mandate for the PAP is essential to ensuring a stable, secure future for Singaporeans and Singapore.

Mr Chee, who is also Transport Minister and Second Minister for Finance, was speaking at a post-budget dialogue organized by PPF on 16 March.

“We are a party that listens. We are a party that is responsive. We are a party that is accountable to you,” he said.

“Forward Singapore demonstrates this. The changes we implement for Singapore are not because the opposition tells us [to] change this or that. They are because Singaporeans share feedback with us as the government and the PAP. We then respond with what we think is good for Singapore and Singaporeans.”

Mr Chee reminded activists that they must convince Singaporeans, especially swing voters, of the PAP’s track record in enacting policies that put Singaporeans first.

“We are not going to take our strong majority for granted or to use it to benefit ourselves at the expense of Singapore and Singaporeans,” he said. “We will use our majority as a force for stability and good governance, enabling long-term planning.”

“We will implement good policies to address not only immediate challenges but also medium and long-term ones facing Singapore.”

Mr Chee also urged Singaporeans to work with the Party to propel Singapore forward.

He highlighted that Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has announced policies aimed at benefitting Singaporeans during the National Day Rally, and this year’s Budget.

“PAP wants to work with you to bring Singapore forward, to do more for you. But we can only do so if you support us and return us to government.”

During the dialogue session, Mr Chee, Vice-Chairpersons Murali Pillai and Sun Xueling also answered attendees’ questions relating to cost-of-living concerns, housing affordability, fertility support and class sizes.

About 160 participants including activists, friends of PAP, and colleagues from the National Trades Union Congress, attended the dialogue.
