This one is in the next higher tier of banking.

The requirement for Maybank private banking is 1 mil and priority banking in $500k. Their priority lounge in Marine Parade is way less grand than the nearby Uob wealth banking at 112 Katong. Maybe they should consider reducing $500k to $100k to capture more clients in this sector.

not sure why they set it at $500K when the perks are pretty normal or is it just an arbitrary number and others have gotten their priority banking status for less?

Maybe they don't want to complete with local banks and just want to focus on this 500K segment?

For me, the key benefits is about cross border fees reduction and access to more functionality

One question (coming from culture shock): do I understand correctly that people are parking $1m in a bank to have access to a lounge? Did I hear this right?

no need to queue for bank's counter service

That's the only perk it seems :) But still if you wish to say withdraw currency in SCB, you would be better off going to Battery Road branch normal counter vs going to their Priority branches, as I am sure they won't have it unless notified earlier.

I wonder what is the reason to visit banks counters, as nowadays pretty much everything can be done online or perhaps via simple email request to relationship manager.

DBS treasures get the overseas ATM withdrawals fees waived together with Amex Black credit card fees waived as well.

No. They already have $1m in savings or investments like unit trusts, insurance, shares or bonds etc and are comparing the small perks that the banks are offering them when they park all these with the banks. Some of the perks like fast immigration access and free limo to airport are useful for those who travel often. Lounge access is just one of them.

A smaller version would be uob wealth banking with just parking of $100k in savings or investment.

For most of us, this is the only practical use of priority banking... :s13::s13::s13:
Yah man! Pre Internet-Banking days, I guess priority queue + those benefits makes alot of sense. Today, I do 99.99% of my banking online. I think many of us do the same loh

but 500K segment all not stupid people and may not find maybank attractive if the perks are not better for higher requirements.

That thread nothing much

Raffles place and MBFC area:
Almost all the priority banking lounges are there
Stanchart, DBS, OCBC, UOB, ANZ. CIMB, Maybank

Just google for the exact location.

May be hard to find in Tanjong Pagar area though.
