IIRC .18 only applys to buy.
its still 0.35 when you sell it?

I agree on the line of credit, might be the lowest on the market?

anyone who know of any facility that can beat dbs's?

Commission for buy and sell are the same, both are 0.18%.

Placing stock with DBS counts towards AUM for qualifying as DBS Treasures member while with CDP do not.

Currently, member's brokerage fee is 0.18% with no min charge and there is no custodian fee for local stock.

There is no charge for transfer of stocks from CDP to DBS.
You have to pay to transfer stocks from DBS to CDP.
Transfer takes 2 to 3 weeks to process.

DBS gives you a line of credit based on 60 to 70% of the value your stocks. Interest rate is good, close to Sibor.

Really? No minimum charge? :s22:

Nothing to shout about actually, as Standard Chartered also offer the same rate for their priority customer with no min charge.

For standard chartered normal customer, 0.2% brokerage fee, also with no min charge.

Yup as u said, its a talk cock thread, not sure why u trying to seek your pot of gold here. If u can't pick up on some of the advice ppl here have shared as well as in other threads, go read a book instead. It's probably more blatant for u.

not trying to be funny or to go OT here. i knew nuts about investment. where would be a good start for it in local context (blog, website, book etc?) for pure dummies?

If small amount buy STIETF keep like savings. Grows with STI.
If have more to invest can step up to trading blue chips high volume, not very volatile.

For long term stuff, I tend to put my bets at REIT. And till date, haven't been terribly wrong. One thing which I've been exceptionally bad at is Forex trading. Its oh so fun, but it sure hurts like hell when you bloody lose $14K within 1 hour because of accidents.

Specifically - what investment opportunities, though? In my limited experience, when I meet up with the bankers, they mainly want to sell funds...

For myself, a non-active investor, wouldn't I be better off in the long run just buying ETFs and sitting on them?

(I do, however, enjoy the free unlimited PP provided, haha.)

Anyway, since this is a PB thread. Let's tie this to more PB stuff! Many ppl says PB only use is status, no queue, lounge, nice angbao packets. I think there's more to that. It gets u access to a lot of other investment opportunities n leverage, which if u know how to deploy, it's a powerful tool. :)

I think someone previously mention that DBS Treasures has good rates on line of credit.

For example if you put 250k in reits that give you around 5-6% return.
Take a line of credit of 150k (60%) at sibor + 100 basis points = 2%approx,
and invest in something else such as shares or forex or trading, take gives above 2%, you are able to make more money with leverage rather than without it.

IIRC, brokerage margin account is around 3-4%, banks are typically lower? or maybe just DBS.

That said, IMO, i would say that your underlying security that you use to pledge should be relatively stable to prevent the risk of margin call.

In your case, if you buy 250k of etf, in Bonds , maybe you want to consider boring 150k @ 2% or whichever your bank provides, and invest in another ETF that focus on Equites.

Thats my opinion, which is very very basic. Alot of pros here will give you a more complex set up/ portfolio

I see... thanks for sharing. For now I feel that's a larger risk than I'm willing to stomach (too risk averse?), but at least now I can see how there might be some additional opportunities...

It really depends how one defines 'investment opportunities.'

One good advice would be not to take any investment advice from a bank.

and yea..some of the leverage stuff, not everyone can stomach. so tread carefully. Leverage has risk but its a powerful tool if u know how to deploy it !

As the saying goes, leverage is a knife that cut both ways!

But i think i get where the OP is coming from, most priority banking ( not private banking) services are really limited by the hard products they have, they might not suit everyone.

Oh a sidenote, any one know which bank has the best rates for leverage on FX and Shares?

From what i know?
DBS - close to sibor
Citigold, 50 bp + sibor

Anyone with scb priority banking?

Do you ever get charged if you fall below 200k?

And if so anyone managed to get waiver for it before? Thanks in advance

I'm experimenting right now - transferred stuff to ocbc 360 for May to earn incremental interest etc. Think the interest will cover the fee if they insist on charging, so I can update again in Jun if no one else has personal experience to share. ;)

Yes and not too difficult to get waiver. Especially if your RM is happy with your business.
