That is why most of us are employees and not leaders. Everything has its pros and cons. A leader has to weigh them and have foresight.

Like when LKY wanted Israel to train our armed forces in 1965 he took the risk of offending our Muslim neighbors. So he did it in secret. But ultimately it paid off.

It was a secret until 1969 whereby we paraded hardware purchased from Israel and allow Israel to open a consulate in Singapore.

We should remain neutral. If we support Ukraine, we will kena marked by Ukraine.

Anyone know what is Switzerland stance?

Cannot.

How can we turn a blind eye over a big country invading a smaller country?

It's not like we are all in with Ukraine either.

Switzerland has condemned Russia actions, executed sanctions and provided aid to Ukraine.

You have a narrow and convenient definition of what neutrality is.

Do we send aid to Russia or Ukraine?

Do we uphold sanctions against Russia or Ukraine?

You still don't get me. May I ask, if SG were in same situation as Ukraine, should SG insist on joining NATO - like what Zelensky had done, or should SG remain neutral ie not siding NATO/US nor Russia?

How can SG be in the same situation as Ukraine? Do you want me to hypothesize SG facing a threat of a Russia invasion?

Put it this way, if SG do face a threat, our priority would be to ensure that the flow of arms continue. That's all I will say.

If SG were to face a threat, at least SG will rely on our ownself to defend our country and not pin hope on other country to help us - like what Zelensky had done.

Because, as rightly pointed out by Shan,

Singapore must have the military means and social resilience to defend itself and act in its own interest, because others will help only if it suits their interests.

Yup. That's why we spend a lot on defence. Which I'm not complaining.

Such that we would not end up like Zelensky, keep demanding the whole world to keep sending weapons to Ukraine. We build our own capability.

So where does the arms come from and who provides the on-going support leading up to and during a conflict, if it comes to that?

How do we ensure that our interests is also the interest of those who support us with arms since Shan rightly said that others will help only if it suits their interests.

What he did not say is whether we are acting on ensuring that "it in their interest" to help us.

Ukraine fought off Russia through motivation to defend their country, and the military training and equipment they have received prior to the invasion. Ukraine had help, and needed continual help. Even Russia tapped on North Korea for military support but the issue is with Zelensky demanding for support?

It's very simple really. If it's not in the Europeans interest to support Ukraine, they would not. Period. But Europe is digging into their inventory to help Ukraine.

jin obvious zelen prefer biden to be president. so he can continue receiving large sums of $ and weapons from sleepy joe to continue the war. if he really care about the lives of his people, he would not have put on a horrow show in front of the media.

We buy. We pay for it. It's a business transaction, dude.

Then it's obvious that you do not know how military sales work.

It's not 'just a business transaction'.

You think you can maintain the modern sophisticated equipment without the host country/OEM support?

You think you have enough stockpile of equipment, ammunition, parts to win the war?

What makes you think that it's the interest of others to help you (in this case the host country and OEM) by selling you more ammunition, equipment, replacement parts, perform repairs in the event of a conflict?

They don't come FOC, we have to pay.

They don't come FOC, we have to pay.

So what if you have money? A stroke of the pen and you either get to buy nothing, or you cease to receive any support.

So I ask you again. How do we ensure that it is in the country's interest to help us? Do you think that we can operate as one of the more modern military simply because we pay?

If you want to believe in and hide behind the cloak of neutrality, by all means go ahead. In reality, there's no such thing as neutrality. That's plain naive.

Donald Trump visited Moscow in November 2013 for the Miss Universe pageant, which was held at Crocus City Hall. The event was organized in partnership with Russian billionaire Aras Agalarov, a real estate developer with close ties to the Kremlin.

Key Details of the Visit:

Trump Tower Moscow Talks – During the trip, Trump was in discussions with Agalarov about a potential Trump Tower Moscow project. Although Trump expressed excitement about the deal, it never moved forward.

Putin Invitation? – Trump repeatedly hinted that he might meet Vladimir Putin during the visit. Before the trip, he tweeted:

> "Do you think Putin will be going to The Miss Universe Pageant in November in Moscow — if so, will he become my new best friend?"

However, there is no confirmed evidence that he actually met Putin in person. Instead, Trump later claimed that Putin sent him a gift and a "beautiful letter", though details remain unclear.

Connections with Russian Officials – Trump socialized with Aras Agalarov and his son Emin Agalarov, a Russian pop star. They played a key role in later efforts to set up a 2016 meeting between Trump's campaign team and Russian officials.

Miss Universe Afterparty – Trump attended a lavish afterparty in Moscow, where he mingled with wealthy Russian businessmen and celebrities.

While Trump’s 2013 Moscow trip fueled speculation about his ties to Russia, there is no public evidence that
he met with Putin during that visit.
