Singapore reported 94 new COVID-19 cases on Aug 28, taking the national tally to 56,666. All of the four community cases were Singaporeans or permanent residents. Ten imported cases had all been placed on stay-home notice upon their arrival. The rest of the 80 cases are workers residing in dorms, including 58 are from Sungei Tengah Lodge.

Even though foreign worker dormitories in Singapore were declared cleared of COVID-19 on Aug 11, there have been about 45 coronavirus cases linked to dorms reported daily. "We are prepared for this. We put in place a multi-layered strategy to detect, as well as to contain any new infections very quickly and very decisively," Minister Tan See Leng said in a news conference by the multi-ministry taskforce to deal with COVID-19 on Wednesday (Sep 9).
