Hi everyone,

My PC's processor is constantly running at 100% all the time and freezes sometimes. i'm able to play games normally still with no lag but the freezing issue is annoying me. RAM usage seems normal.

Computer is 5 years old and i'm using i7-2600K processor.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

No screenshot of what is utilising 100% of your cpu? I guess your OS is win 7?

Some program must be running in the background hence the 100 percent processing. Check under task manager see under CPU see which program is hogging up the CPU.

Task Manager will tell you which program is using up CPU cycles.

Another possibility is virus infection.

My OS is windows 10 home

Set your power option to balanced. I encountered this issue before on a fresh installation of Windows 8.1. I go set to high performance, my CPU is always at max clock speed. Once i change to balance my clock speed fluctuates depending on program running.

Check resource monitor instead, and sort by cpu/average usage. Then google the process name, chances are you'll find people who have encountered the same issue.

Either you look at the wrong tab or you are not looking the task manager.

How do you know your CPU usage was 100% without looking at task manager? If what you said is right, where the 100% came from?

cfm task mgr show SYSTEM and INTERRUPTS are both at low cpu too?

hmm then long shot only, see if any suspicious service whose functn is to hide a malware process tat is causing high cpu:
search for "services" from ur taskbar, then run Services
scrutinize those with blank description (normal to have a few), and esp those with strange symbols eg underscore "_" etc

if safe mode is 0%, likely you have gotten some malware/virus that is eating up your CPU....i recommend doing a factory reset...

Likely virus, if not means ur CPU going to uplorry.

I had a 2600qm or sth laptop that had a similar problem. But it was only core 0 that was permanently stuck at 100%. Decided to retire the laptop
