samsung just called me and offered 50% discount for screen.

which amounts to $130plus.

she said samsung never offer free replacement. She challenges whoever have free replacement to show service form. lol.

so who's lying? anyhow, i paid for the screen, no point fighting over a hundred over dollars bills.

They should have a consistent pricing for replacement of screens man.

i just went to plaza singapura this afternoon. the girl at the front desk told me that the warranty isnt covered. i need to pay $130.33 for the LCD screen repair, damnit. i am going to talk with the personnels again, in causeway point where i am collecting my phone back.

what should i say in order to make them consider covering it under warranty, since i heard people can get it waived off during the first time?

There's no fixed thing to say. Try visiting multiple times, different service personnel and try your luck. :D

Yeah i second that, some CSR have different attitude to their job. Some are very unwilling to offer solution to the problem and just follow their SOP. I went down to PS twice and the attitude was really different between the two CSRs. one was really helpful will help as much as possible. the other was like with a heck care attitude, like cannot means cannot.

yup. true that. the personnel who was attending to me, was a little girl. she's probably 18-19 years old. she kept apologising to me, asking me to wait as she was slow in doing my phone. oh well, i shall negotiate with the people there at causeway point when i collect my phone. sigh, my girlfriend is flying off to sweden today and i cant whatsapp her. hope they deliver what they promise to their customers; 3-5 days. a day without a smart phone aka a day without world wide news.

Or you could always buy a separate screen and follow a guide like this video,
youtube.com/watch?v=eneLvVe7DwE
and fix it yourself... cheaper and better and none knows the better... risky thou...
Just cracked my screen today... wanted to change... probably will use the same method to do it... cheaper too

Not a bad idea. Instantly void warranty in the process as well. :D

Yeah true... but if you do it well, it will look the same like the original one... so if anything goes wrong in the future, you can always head back to sssc to have it fixed with warranty =P

Yeah, good idea. Bring it there and test to see if they can tell if you fooled around with it. :D

My quotation was S$230 today.

2 Weeks ago, I replaced it (screen cracked a little only back then) for S$140 including the front bevel (double discount) was supposed to be S$130 + 40

But today, not only are they charging me "rack rate" but there was also more paper work.
1) Have to sign over indemnity (in case their technician screw up)
2) Have to agree to have data wiped
3) Wait for Tech to check (took 20 mins)

The only positive thing is that the repair time is 2-3 hours (not days)

sigh... all for the love of a beloved phone...
