Is the katana good for TV?
It's not about the display, whether monitor or TV. It's more about the room you're in and the distance from the display. Katana was designed as a under monitor system, so I'm sure it's more then enough for most common/study rooms or smaller living rooms. But if you have a huge living room, then you might be better off with a sound bar.

Alright! Got it! Think my room is pretty small, but might need something else for the living room

More of function

Have the same feeling, some of my friends told me too its impossible to have a 7.1 unless your room is the exact dimension as the room. Anyone know too if normal youtube can support 7.1 sound???

From my understanding, what you friends may mean by that could be that if you are in a small room, virtual 7.1 sound, because virtual bounces off the walls and space to create that effect. A small room may not be able to do that. Depends. Do test out in stores.

For youtube, i am very sure it does not support 7.1 sound outright. Yotube sound is heavily compressed too.

Err.. no, once you connect Katana VIA USB.
The sound environment is in 7.1 virtual, unless you are using optical
or 3.5mm than it will be different.

Whether Youtube, games and etc. even if it is not in native 7.1,
it will still be in 7.1 environment.

Any soundbar recommendation then?

Depend on your budget and usage.
Like Yuripa mention, Sony have some decent models.
Sony CT-80 Lazada model cost about $200.

However typical soundbar doesn't have that as much connection
like Katana since most are designed to connect to TV than monitor.
Any sources will be connect from the TV than it will be route to
the soundbar.

Just tried katana and house of marley- let's get together mini. Katana is more for gaming while let's get together is more for music. I opted for the marley speakers via amazon... 187 sgd compared to local 328 sgd. got 3.5mm connection, USB and Bluetooth. Similar to katana

Well, you can use Katana for TV but you won't be able to customize
and use most of the feature like Virtual 7.1.
Don't you feel kind of waste?

Again if you intend to buy Katana and use for TV I got no objections.

Take note from buying oversea tho. Because of the different in voltage and no safety sign. In other words if anything happen it is not covered by insurance
