Oh, I thought using USB Audio with the PS4 will have better sound?

To use a USB sound (speaker or headphone) with PS4, the product must be compatible with the standard USB sound driver i.e. if you plug it to Windows, it does not require installing a driver provided by the manufacturer.

I know. I read the Katana is compatible with the PS4. Just wondering if using it via USB is better than optical, if so, how to have it connected via usb to both PC and PS4?

USB switch box?

Problem is that even if you can connect Katana VIA USB to PS4.
It may not function 100% like customize as well as Dolby surround
output.
For USB is PCM/Stereo only so games will be in this format.

If you use Optical wise than games will be in Dolby surround.
For PS4 use Optical than USB if not you won't tap on the surround
format.

If still under warranty, quickly send it in. Otherwise it's $40 just for them to have a look at your speakers before repairs. My Katana left woofer making crackling noises after about a year and a half. Creative products supposedly not meant to be long-lasting.

Why do you need one?
Katana subwoofer is not powered type, it can only be used
with Katana soundbar.

AVR or Amp with sub out, it will not perform properly.
