Perhaps Sim should just take the company private instead of staying in SGX.
i think so too. but i suspect there will be challenges to agree on a price to buy out the existing shareholders to take it private.

I am not vested but a quick look at its Annual Report shows that Sim Wong Hoo holds a 33.28% stake in the company. He could possibly be voted out if shareholders banded together to oust him out. That would include those different nominees of the company.

There are no fund managers as substantial shareholder so possibly, no fund managers are willing to put money in the company and so there are difficulties in ousting him out since Sim is also the Chairman and Chief Executive of Creative. Perhaps SIm should just take the company private instead of staying in SGX.

he not so kum gong to throw in $$$ & buy the shares on open mkt until > 90% to take it private.
gains nothing from a useless loss making company.

i am imagining a scenario in my head where sim is voted out and replaced by a typical singaporean A* scholar. what would the new guy do?

- sell sub par products at inflated prices
just like everything we have nowadays from HDB flats to kopidiam

then when things continue to fail even faster
- blame everybody else
just like everything we have nowadays from HDB's govt losses to kopidiam high rentals

back to square one.

company secretary name is Ng Keh Long.

wtf.

This is minor when compared with some serious jokers at Creative Tech. My picks: 1. advertised widely and even ran contests in case people did not know that their SoundBlaster Axx speakers should be pronounced as *Ass*.

2. Combine an ARM quadcore CPU and their 96 cores media processor to produce their 100 core hanzpad . However, the end product only runs as fast as a dualcore! 4 + 96 = 2 ?

Creative announced their hanzpad tablets in 2.2012 and said the tablets would be ready for sale in 6.2012. Within a day their shares surged by more than two dollars. However, after one year there is still no sign of the actual product. The share price of Creative is now almost back to just before the announcement. Share holders who bought because of its false claim and have suffered big losses should seek compensation from Creative.

Hanzpad is not vapourware because samples had been sent out to various websites for reviews. But they do owe some update on what happened and why they have missed the launch dates.

As for false claims, not possible IMO. The product exist for a fact and missed dealines are par norm as a business risk and it is a case of caveat emptor for investors.

How can we seek compensation sia? The best that we can do is to bring tupperware during AGM and dabao enough a lot of food to cover our loss hahahaha

Creative Technology's third quarter net loss widens to $13 million

Foreign exchange losses were the main cause of locally listed Creative Technology's net loss in the three months ended March 31.

By Rachel Scully

Foreign exchange losses were the main cause of locally listed Creative Technology’s net loss in the three months ended March 31.

The digital entertainment products maker reported a net loss of US$10.4 million (S$13 million) for the third quarter, far worse than the US$1.57 million deficit for the corresponding quarter last year.

This was attributed to the foreign exchange loss of US$2.8 million compared with a forex gain of US$4.3 million in the same period last year.
Revenue for the three months to Mar 31 was US$33.8 million, down from US$44.9 million in the same period last year.

Hmm, that will happen when Temasek bail out/ buy over Creative.

In all seriousness, the company has lost its way and it really needs a change in leadership.

Creative is in a very big mess. They have failed products such as soundcards which couldn't run properly in Windows due to cripple audio strategy which could not release the full potential of a sound card and also removal of audio hardware acceleration by Microsoft. Creative took very long to resolve these issues related to drivers. Embedded audio chips became popular as it can utilise Windows audio stacks better. Creative Alchemy has various integration issues with Windows and also various games. These are one of the reasons that led to the decline of the company. Creative's strategy with Ziilabs is also a terrible one which I don't understand as they refuse to come out with a decent multi-touch 3G/4G tablet and smartphone. Bad relations with the key vendors like Foxconn and Huawei also results in legal issues with Foxconn over a 500k payment and also Huawei over a failed Wimax projects. They sold Ziilabs aka 3Dlabs to Intel instead of looking for potential investor to invest in this company. I don't see light in this company as they have not learn their lesson well despite having so many failures. Quality and unfailing supports are the keys that can retain and win people heart. I am disappointed that their products are not quality driven, not design appealing, lack of substance and taste too.

Are you saying that samples have been sent out by Creative, Yet Again? For years they have been doing that with an ever increase in the number of cores in their chips, but serious products have yet to be sold. So, how many cores do their latest tablets have, 1000 cores?

Creative is not the only company into the business of licensing SoCs. Mediatek and Rockchip enjoy booming businesses selling a plethora of SoC designs for mobile devices. Humble Rockchip has even supply chips for HP's latest tablets. Sending out samples it can, but Creative must realize that the market it is still trying to get into is no more the virgin land it dreamed of conquering a few years ago. Having its UK ziilabs team and resources already sold to Intel, the chances of winning the SoC war against these 2 formidable opponents are even slimmer now than before. I think the best choice for the quixotic Creative is to admit its defeat, change its CEO, quit the SoC business and refocus.

Disclaimer: I have no stake in Mediatek, Rockchip and, thankfully, Creative.
