To everyone in the queue, be it at Padang or near the City Hall area, please persevere and be calm. Do remain civil and maintain the positive attitude that no matter what, you have already displayed your sincerity. LKY will understand and appreciate your heart, no matter what.
Think of it this way: it may be stressful in the queue, but this kind of stress is nothing compared to the kind of stress that LKY must have experienced throughout his life, meeting politicians who were sarcastic to him, reneged on their promises to him, and a host of national emergencies that must have woken him up from his sleep in the dead of night.
It is not difficult to imagine that the kind of stress that LKY must have endured throughout his entire life as the Prime Minister of Singapore, must have been thousands of times worse than the stress of any queue.
Singapore, you have done well. This state funeral has shown that we are able to stand united in solidarity and to do things the Singapore way.
To all the defence personnel and volunteers, and the SFOC, you have good reason to be proud of yourselves too because you have already done a very good job, to the best of your ability. Thank you.
50 years ago, Mr Lee Kuan Yew began his job by bringing all of us together. 50 years later, he has ended it by bringing us all together again.
50 years ago, he cried for Singapore. 50 years later, we cry for him.
