Hi all was wondering is custom built desktop by Sim Lim cheaper? Because looking at the prices and comparing it to shops like Lenovo and Dell it seems like the price is comparable to each other. If so the onli people who go for custom are those who want the highest specs possible? Not for people who just want a standard gaming com?

Looking for
i5 4460 processor
1Tb + 128 SSD
GTX 960 2GB
8GB Ram

Pls advise!

Self build will always be cheaper even for those "pre-build" specs offered at SLS shops.

Because you don't need to pay them labour cost and you don't need to pay for parts that you don't need or pay for crap parts.

I chose custom built, better. It's about flexibility base on individual needs for the rig. Not necessary custom built for highest specs possible.

no, the price is not comparable cos the specs for prebuilt are very much inferior. maybe u can give an example and we can match the price with the self build specs.

Wait what?? Are you intending to build a desktop or notebook?? :s11:

Nevertheless, you are not going to find any of those desktop parts in for your laptop.

Gaming wise a i5 and i7 doesnt have much diff

Its better to channel ur budget more into gpu

Its easier if u let us know the games u wan to play and most imptly ur budget

Anw back to scope of discussion, self build is indeed daunting at first, but then again, that's the whole point of diy PC. Cheaper also than same spec aftershock/other SLS shop config.
