Well all I can say is that a stupid question will yield a stupid answer.

So if the answer is so obvious, why do you even bother to ask?

there's a fine line between a stupid answer and the wrong answer. it's a forum after all and questions should be asked, no matter how amateurish. at least, TS is aware of mobile versions of a similar card through subsequent replies.

I think you would recall someone washing his motherboard with water sometime back...
Some questions, when asked, is just insulting your intelligence. I have no qualms with amateurish questions; forums are more for tapping into experience that others had, letting forumers to make a more informed decision without paying school fees. Some questions can be googled easily. Others, needless to say, are rhetorical. I am sure a Supremacy member like yourself should know.

TS was perhaps aware from the start? He didn't really asked about mobile - in fact he is more interested in a desktop. Presumably his initial post was just a typo.

Someone just asked a stupid question and made untrue claims about ts to divert.

Anyways, for someone who takes my joke so seriously, I rest my case.

i only spent time in this forum just this year. supremacy i guess must be over the years in other forums. im kinda new in hardware. i learn as i go along and i certainly am unsure if certain gpus can fit in a laptop or not, with performance issues or not. yes, things can be googled but no harm asking. if cannot, then this forum might as well close. yea, u should rest yr case if all u rather do is answer stupid questions with stupid answers, or worse, wrong answers.

A custom built PC is always preferable for 3 reasons - (1) you have better control over the parts which go into your PC, being able to select those parts which have better reviews from users; (2) OEMs like to use custom parts, which will make it difficult or more expensive to replace should something go wrong; (3) custom built PC will usually end up cheaper.

If you do not wish to build your own PC or are not tech-savvy enough, by all means buy one from Dell or other OEM. The advantage is that the PC will definitely work and you do not have to worry about trouble-shooting. Sometimes, custom built PCs do not work from the start because of incompatibility, DOA parts or gremlins and you have to know how to identify and rectify problems.

+1 to custom pc

1) Much more cheaper compare to pre-build
2) Learn how to build your own PC
3) Full control on which part/brand you want

Hi all was wondering is custom built desktop by Sim Lim cheaper? Because looking at the prices and comparing it to shops like Lenovo and Dell it seems like the price is comparable to each other. If so the onli people who go for custom are those who want the highest specs possible? Not for people who just want a standard gaming com?

Looking for

1Tb + 128 SSD
GTX 960 2GB
8GB Ram

Pls advise!

Sry for not providing more info. I'm intending to get a desktop built from guys in sim lim mentioned in my post is some of the hardware I'm intending to get. Yet when I checked out dell website their desktops I realized their specs are also decent w a i7 at 4GHZ so wanted to ask online for advisement

This is what you should get:

As the saying goes, once cent money one cent goods. You pay what you get. But then to the majority of the consumers, it may not even matter much. It all depends on what you aim for and what's your budget. For example you said GPU, same amount of GB but different brand have different pricing. That's because different brands have their own different PCB designs and cooler designs. Expensive ones are like the ASUS brand - but they have good reputation for their build, their card's cooling and overclocking capabilities etc.

But then for a normal consumer who are on a budget and just wanted a rig that works right from plug and play, then all these things don't really matter. You probably won't notice or be bothered by the difference in a Samsung PRO series SSD vs an entry level SSD like LiteON - it's still a SSD and provides you the benefits of a SSD.

That's about it.

Skylake won't be cheap and motherboard variety here will be limited initially so expect an average $50 topup over current Haswell offering. Plus DDR4 will still be significantly more exp over DDR3 for Haswell.

Skylake have dual support for RAMs if not wrong? Both DDR3 and DDR4?

because DDr3 and DDR4 got different number of pins, dont think got DDR4 and 3 support on same mobo; more likely to see DDR3 to be released first followed by DDR4

Sadly only for DDR3L, which breaks compatibility with our oider vanilla 1.5V DDR3 sticks. You can still use them but you have to hoot new sticks of RAM again.

Motherboards can have support for both why not? Way back in 2008 Intel 4 series chipset motherboards do offer both DDR2 and DDR3 controller on their northbridge. Motherboard offering both types of RAM illustrated as such:
