I am now reaching the 12 months for my ETF - Nikko AM Singapore STI ETF - SGD.

Planning to go into a new fund in order to qualify as a new category. Any suggestions on which fund?

just curious, hope u don't mind sharing - counting the dividends and purchases, what's the net profit/loss over the past 12 months?

wonder if buying ETF helps or actually worsens the choice of getting that extra 3rd category (and locking up the $50k)

You can do back testing. You google historical share price + dividend pay out and see what the result is.

But remember past performance is not an indication of future outcome.

Nobody say you can’t signup for the RSP. And every month, as soon as the units get credited, you just redeem it straightaway.

is it better to head down to DBS to speak to a staff to get the lowest possible plan for the insurance category?

CancerCare after the 35% off First-Year Premium promo is under S$10 for me.

---
on a side note, as long as I sign-up in Oct, I'll unlock the category from November onwards right?

Depends on whether you have the time and if you can get the person to do what you want them to do rather than sell you what they want to sell you.
