Just 'renewed' the CASA promotion. now they don't even need to fill up form or sign, still need to queue and do at counter though. They will use your ATM card to process the earmarked amount and you immediately get an email notification saying you're on the promo. They will then print out a document to pass to us.

Good job DBS (to simplify the process) but pls cut the queue system leh. There were over 40 people in front of me when I was at the bank.. just do things online and save everyone the hassle.

Actually this is not a good change.

When first started, teller or someone takes the form and only verify the signature and account balance. Input into the system was done backend.

Then recently teller also had to input everything into the system. So had to wait longer for them to finish. I mentioned to teller that the last part should do at the backend so that they can serve customers faster.

With this change, means the process of moving the last part to backend is no longer possible.

Read some branches used to have staff getting form signed without going to teller counter. With this change, all must go to counter liao.

not sure if it's mandatory but yeah the card was used to insert into the card reader and need to key in the pin (machiam like an old-school NETS transaction).

so better bring ATM card along bah... luckily I had it with me.

Bring ATM card dun need to sign, easier. I signed many times because the signature didn't match the records, so bring card will save this hassle.

maybe previously got some customers application got lost backend... hence they implemented this new way.

but agree that it's not really faster in terms of time taken. they still need to key in the information into the computer. but previously got see them need to look for their supervisor to check and approve before the process is completed. now, it's done by the teller only - no supervisor need to personally approve the application on the spot. so, if supervisor is busy, in the past it may also take longer than average to complete the process 🤷‍♂️

cos last time for the form, the $ only got earmarked after 1-2working days.
now if using ATM card, i assume your $ straight away got earmarked?

U still need to sign on the "signature tablet" and use the atm card - as acknowledgement and authentication of your application.

What DBS had done is to automate the manual application process so everything is printed from the system, staff no need to fill any application form. It still require some backend work, I guess, as earmarking is still not done realtime.

What this automation process imply? For you to guess, I keep/reserve the conclusions for my network.

This is like eliminating the "low-value manual work" but need to "protect" the branch/staff!

I was there this morning.

end of the day, its the queue that really matters..
DBS takes care of their internal operations and staff.

You as customer need to manage your own expectations. How long you need to que is dependent on many factors, eg system slow, staff familiarity, branch location, time of the day, customers' requirements in front of you, etc

Went to a POSB branch which have no counter services. Still using the old method (sign Form) to sign up CASA.
