Still quite worth if you can get 4 miles/ sgd consistently. So must plan well.

i think he is referring to whether use miles for economy is good or not..

if u can get 4miles/sgd

to go Japan is 45,000 miles (with online booking is 38,250miles). if 4miles is $1, 38250 miles is $9,562.5 spent.

A air ticket to Japan with SIA exclusive of tax is $618.

Hence your exact savings is

618/9562.5 = 6.5%

Biz class 80,000miles (online:68,000)

68000/4= $17,000 spent

Air tix 3,148

3,148/17000 = 18.5%

618 is super saver, normal price is 16xx

Getting 6+ % still quite decent imo

To be fair, I use the cheapest fare for each. Of course the savings will be more if you buy at normal rates. Budden again, your miles will also increase if you buy a normal rate ticket.

So I am using a like for like comparison.

Not sure if this is shared.

For comfort booking app, use this DBS Woman's card,
In the comfort taxi booking app, use this code "MCPASS"

No taxi booking fee, and no additional surcharge on master pass payment, the best combination. Not sure if this transaction gives 10x points, anyone doing the same?

Don't add the tax in when you do mileage comparison.

You cannot get away from tax for your reward ticket. :s13:

bro, thanks for the calculation . to me 6% is acutally quite good le, cos really hard to accumulate so many miles, unless really push all your spending into this card. 38k miles online to jap, is return air tix? so walk in to counter buy(airport) they charge more ?

yeah, you are right

A air ticket to Japan with SIA exclusive of tax is $890.

Hence your exact savings is

890/9562.5 = 9.3% (without tax)

957/9562.5 = 10% (with tax)

Biz class 80,000miles (online:68,000)

68000/4= $17,000 spent

Air tix 3,270 (exclude tax)

3,270/17000 = 19.2%

Air tix 3,337 (include tax)

3,337/17000 = 19.6%

Air miles with Tax

Economy (38,250 miles+$66.70 tax)

Business (68,000 miles+$66.70 tax)

Still not that bad right?

paying tokio marine insurance

hi all, need to pay my tokio marine insurance by next month.

will paying via masterpass through AXS station get me the 10x points? or else can anyone advise on this? thinking of doing a split payment for the insurance - 2k this month, 2k next month and remaining on dbs altitude.

if not anyone got better way? thanks!

It's amazing that the taxes are only $67. Damn Singapore to Taipei tax is $383!!! I redeemed on Cathay Pacific Instead for $74 tax with just slightly more miles needed.

To be honest, I find that, all things being equal, it's better to redeem my miles for SQ flights rather than Cathay Pacific, if I'm flying to a destination served by both airlines.

Somehow, CX flights require more miles when compared to the 15% discount given for Krisflyer redemptions. And I'm not too impressed with CX business class, when compared with SQ business class.

CX's taxes are much lesser as they are regulated by HK Govt. SQ's taxes are not regulated at all..

But to be fair, SQ's taxes is not the highest.. Its really just middle ground.
