My Straits Times recurring monthly subscription is charged to my PayPal account. Previously, I have set it up for PayPal to deduct it from DBS Woman Card. However, noted that I was only awarded 1X point. As such, for recurring transactions via PayPal, it seems that you will not get 10X points.

Just a reminder, maybe it's because of this clause.

1X DBS Point will be awarded for every S$5 online retail spend one working day after the transaction posting date. The additional 9X DBS Points for online retail spend in a calendar month will be awarded on the 16th of the next calendar month. If the above days are not working days, the Points will be awarded on the next working day.

Yes, I am aware of this clause. Tallied the # of points awarded on around 16/17th of the next month and realized I was short of around some points which works out to 9X for the amount that I should have gotten for the SPH subscription.

How is the transaction code different for recurring versus normal PayPal transactions? If I were you, I would hve called the bank to raise this issue for the points.

It was around 45 points and I did not want to raise an issue with the Bank as technically, it is recurring and not online transaction though I signed up for the SPH subscription online.

Just some data point that I would like to highlight to BW readers as I noted this discrepancy for consecutive 3 month statements.

Maybe it's consistent with other banks where recurring mobile bill don't qualify rebates but manual monthly online payment does. Don't understand the rationale though

Relax people, just check again tomorrow.

Unless you're having withdrawal symptons you can check every 5 mins. :s13:

Did a tally this month and the points does not seem right. I bought something online from taobao.com in May 2014 and it seem to award less than 9X the bonus points on 16 Jun 2014.

The purchase amount was around S$1270, which should work out to 2,286 points ($1270/5 * 9 points), but I have gotten less than 1,500 points last night. The points is obtained taking the difference from 16 Jun 2014 and 17 Jun 2014 end-date balance. Anyone has similar problem?

I hardly like to use this card due to the delayed crediting which makes the computation complex.

The 9x points awarded in June statement are for 01 May to 31 May, your calculation is incorrect.

Your understanding is incorrect.

His transaction was in May.
The credited bonus miles were calculated from the balance differences between 16 June and 17 June. And these credited miles were less than expected. Hence the question.

Thanks for clarifying on my behalf. I have called the CSO and she acknowledged the difference that she is not able to reconcile as well. She is checking with the relevant parties to see if there is any discrepancy.

Suggest for those holding the card and have made online transactions in May 2014 to do a quick calculation to see if points tally.

By the way, my statement is generated on 30th of each month.

My bonus points tally. Credited as expected. Maybe it is merchant related issue?

No idea, still waiting for DBS to revert. This is a case where I have inputted a SMS password when I purchased online. Even if they do not take this as online transaction, I have excess points earned as I do not have that many online transactions (excluding that transaction) to account for the excessive bonus points credited.

the trsf fee of 42.8 must pay annually :(

When you want to redeem/transfer points, you subscribe and pay the annual fee. For the whole subscription year you can transfer as many times as you want.
If in the following year you havw no plan to transfer, just terminate the subscription, no need to pay the fee anymore.

U should be paying only every 2 years. Since DBS points expire in 1 year, accumulate the points for 1 year. just before the first batch expires you would sign up for it. And transfer points every 3 mths ( just those that are about to expire to maximize validity of points). When your frequent flyer member is about to expire, transfer all remaining points out. Then rinse and repeat.

Personally I don't mind the annual fee and find it a much better solution than paying for each transfer. Due to constantly changing T&Cs among banks with regards to mileage/points accrual I have a habit of withdrawing my points as frequently as possible, so paying an annual fee and then having the possibility of making numerous withdrawals is a big plus.
