Oh late feb cos I was thinking you’d want to apply in late feb. Else yes first of March is best! :)

Yes the key factors varies.

Sometimes it says moderately increases risk, sometimes it’s marginally increases risk.

My case, I had one that said greatly increases risk - this one was delinquency presence.

Oh i didnt know about the CBS key factors varies, thought its fixed. Why late feb though, when CBS refreshes on every 1st of the month?

Just a tip for you guys on how they calculate the monthly instalments.. and for @bozoka86

Using an example of someone with a 60,000 outstanding
Total outstanding (without 5% Buffer) : $60,000
Total outstanding (with 5% Buffer) : $63,000

Take $63,000 (total amount) x 5.68%(total interest) x 7 (number of years) = $25,048.80 (interest component)

$63,305 (total amount) + $25,048.80 (total interest) = $88,048.80 (total with interest)

Monthly Installment = $88,048.80 (total with interest) / 84 (number of months) = $1,048.20

In Carlingford's case, substitute the numbers in,

Interest Component = $104,000 X 5.68% X 7 = $41,350.40
Total with interest = $104,000 + $41,350.40 = $145,350.40
Monthly installment = $145,350.40 / 84 = $1,730

He's probably paying around $1.7k (cos I'm not sure whats the exact interest he got from the bank)

Just an quick question, if I paid timely for my DCP, will my CBS rating will increase over time? Or it will remain at the rating where my DCP is been approved until I clearer my loans?

Thanks

Once you're on DCP, all the credit cards / cashlines / loan accounts on the DCP will be closed.

Effectively, you will only see a DCP account and credit card account under the DCP bank you approved with. Since all other accounts are closed, as long as you pay timely (obviously you will), then your cbs rating will increase.

Seen someone here from a HH to AA after DCP approved and after a few months.

Just an quick question, if I paid timely for my DCP, will my CBS rating will increase over time? Or it will remain at the rating where my DCP is been approved until I clearer my loans?

Thanks

Parliament: Changes to loan limits to help nip over-borrowing

SINGAPORE - Borrowers will no longer be able to approach multiple moneylenders and become "over-indebted".

In the latest move to regulate the industry, changes to the Moneylenders Act were passed on Monday (Jan 8), setting an overall loan limit for borrowers - a shift from the current caps which restrict how much they can loan from individual moneylenders.

This is due to "an upward trend in the amount of outstanding debt owed" since 2015, said Senior Minister of State for Law Indranee Rajah. She was responding to Non-Constituency MP Daniel Goh, who asked what led to the tightening of rules.

Moving forward, those earning less than $20,000 a year cannot borrow more than $3,000, while the cap is six times of monthly income for all other borrowers.

These changes "will help us to nip the over-borrowing in the bud before it gets worse", Ms Indranee said.

Moneylenders will also have to get a borrower's credit report from the Moneylenders Credit Bureau before giving out a loan, and are required to update the bureau on repayments.

However, Ms Indranee noted that the proportion of Singaporeans who over-borrow remains small at less than 2 per cent - or about 610 people - between March 2016 and March 2017. This refers to the group of people who have an outstanding balance that is more than the upcoming loan cap.

The Ministry of Law is also working with volunteer welfare organisations to help these borrowers manage their debt, she added.

Nine MPs spoke in support of the changes on Monday although many, including Mr Alex Yam (Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC), raised concerns that the tightening of rules may end up driving borrowers to unlicensed moneylenders.

Ms Indranee noted that since the imposition of caps in 2015, arrests for unlicensed moneylending have continued to fall: "There's no evidence that the 2015 tightening pushed more borrowers to unlicensed moneylending. We will, however, continue to monitor this closely."

While other MPs, such as Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar (Ang Mo Kio GRC) and Mr Louis Ng (Nee Soon GRC) asked about the protection of borrowers' information, which moneylenders will now have to update and request for, Ms Indranee said the companies are subject to regulations as well as the Personal Data Protection Commission's guidelines.

Responding to Mr Desmond Choo (Tampines GRC) who asked if there is a need to curb the number of moneylending facilities in the heartlands, Ms Indranee said that a study done last year with the Singapore Land Authority found that borrowers are increasingly going to moneylenders outside their neighbourhoods.

Other changes to the Moneylenders Act include tighter approval requirements for those in the moneylending businesses, and stricter requirements on loan contracts.

In a move to professionalise the industry, moneylenders will also need to incorporate as companies and submit annual audited accounts to the Registry of Moneylenders.

Almost 70 per cent of around 160 licensed moneylenders here have registered as companies, said Ms Indranee.

Mr Gan Thiam Poh (Ang Mo Kio GRC) asked about the profile of borrowers and Ms Indranee said that around 41,000 people borrowed from moneylenders as at the third quarter of last year.

Around 80 per cent of them were Singaporeans and permanent residents, subject to the regulatory loan caps, with a total outstanding loan amount of $339 million.

Today 9th Jan, saw new DC account created in ibanking. Also saw that they overpaid credit card by $400+, and credit instalment loan by $50+. Somehow the credit instalment loan didn’t have the $250 full settlement fees.

Applied with SCB, 7 years tenor for 66k loan (include 5% buffer)
Income documents used - 3 months payslip $4617 monthly
Credit rating at time of application FF - 1768

22 Dec’17 - Submitted application to CSO, CSO informed that most likely application will be routed to account checks on 27th Dec’17 as it’s holiday season
28 Dec’17 - CSO called to update address as address for card and application are different
28 Dec’17 - Bank checked CBS
29 Dec’17 - Received SMS on update of address
29 Dec’17 - CSO called to inform that case has been routed to approvals Queue, but cannot proceed further as the account has an overlimit of $220. Was told to quickly make payment and send her receipt. Most likely will be routed back to approvals again on 2nd Jan’18 as it’s New Years holiday
2 Jan’17 - Bill payment into SCB not yet reflected in account yet, CSO will wait until payment is reflected to route case back to approvals Queue
3 Jan’17 - Check SCB account in morning and saw bill payment. Informed CSO that overlimit is clearer. CSO proceed to route to approvals Queue
3 Jan’17 - CSO informed unofficial approval on DCP as SCB is updating DCP registry to Ensure no other banks can add their case in DCP registry. CSO informed to give SCB about 5 working days to dispense outstanding to all banks. After dispensing to all, then approval letter with instalment amount and card will be sent
4 Jan’17 - SCB customer service informed credit limit cancellation in progress, most likely due to DCP reducing current credit limit to 1x monthly salary
5 Jan’17 - received HSBC SMS stating DCP approval.

Total working days from application to approval: 4 days
(Excludes public holidays, Christmas and new year)

Almost everyone in this DCP Thread are/were in the same situation and faced the same problem as yourself. I'm glad you found this forum.

I too was lost, annoyed, sad, angry, depressed etc etc. Suprisingly, still can sleep well tho. -.-

The disadvantages of DCP would be:
- For the entire duration of your DCP, you will only have 1x your monthly income credit limit credit card (isn't this good??? not a disadvantage)
- After you finish paying your DCP, the record will stay on your CBS for 3 years, which means that you may have difficulty getting unsecured loans for x number of years on DCP + 3 years. Housing Loan, Car Loans may not be affected tho depending on which financial institution.
- Not able to apply for any kind of unsecured credit until your outstanding on DCP reaches to below 8x your debt-to-income ratio (but i doubt you'd want to use anymore unsecured credit anyway..)

To us, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.. Having this DCP allows us to see our PRINCIPLE being paid off slowly.. Rather than paying off interest monthly when not on DCP. Having DCP also makes it easier for us to pay into 1 account rather than many many different accounts.. I had 14 diff accounts to pay every month. Damn Tiring and depressing. DCP allows us to see our outstanding going down slowly, while still giving us abit more extra cash to use. Compared to me before DCP paying 2.5k vs on DCP paying 1.1k. I had extra 1.4k to save/use.

DCP is also another way for you to not let anyone know you're in debt. You still have 1 CC, go apply for all banks Debit Cards and use their cash backs.. Spend wisely, use FAST transfers, use PayNow. Life is better without those evil plastic cards with the word "credit" in them. :s12:

Perhaps would be better for us to help you if you can let us know more about your situation. Then we can better advise whats the best way to go, either DCP, DMP, or self-DCP (using your balance transfer to cover your own payments) - but must be very disciplined.

Total Outstanding:
Monthly Gross Salary (Excluding Bonus):
CBS Credit Rating : e.g AA,BB
CBS Credit Score : e.g 1800, 1900

If u r male, I can understand the situation will get even more worst if the partner knows abt it. But if u r female, don't see there's any harm as there's so called maintenance fee for life. DCP should be helping you n not making disadvantage to you.

Hmm. your annual income 66k means your monthly is $5,500 correct?

If your outstanding is $60,000
Your BTI = $60,000/5,500 = 10.9x
With $60,000 outstanding, you don’t qualify for DCP
With 5% buffer, you still are at $63,000/5,500 = 11.5x. Still don’t qualify.

If your outstanding is $66,000
Your BTI = $66,000/5,500 = 12x exactly
With $66,000 outstanding, you qualify for DCP.
With 5% buffer, you still qualify for DCP.

I’d suggest you to calculate your outstanding carefully and be sure of the total outstanding you have currently.

Also, how recent is your CBS, BB is VERY good, but does not exclusively mean your DCP will be approved. Not necessary to know your rating number since you’re a BB. Should be 1.9k+

Thank you for the support.

There is no partial repayment in a DCP. You can save up the bonus and pay up a lump sum to do Full Payment and pay 3% the total outstanding remaining balance as additional fees.
