Okay,
just need a confirmation on warranty issue.

I've purchased my dell inspiron 6400 as of last year few weeks before December , with 3 years complete cover, cost round 200 plus or more, forgotten.
Just today, this thought occurred to me, how to they know IF i'm warranted? Do I need to sign up forms or stuff online? anything need to be taken care of as of now in regards?

Basically, I bought it without further changes except for the 1GB ram & nvidia 7400 during last sitex 2006.

I wish dell will bring m1710 into singapore as it is the ultimate gaming laptop that u can find in the market. It is formerly from alienware design after dell has bought alienware over last year.
Cool, considering M1210 now...

My DELL Inspiron 6400 is ON from 08:00 to 00:00 everyday.

These computers are good work horse.

It's advisable to enable Standby and Hibenation to save energy when computer is not in use.

1. Backup all your data

2. Ctrl+F11 and restore to Factory Default.

3. Your computer will be like new again.

How about reformat it?
When to press the Ctrl+F11? during Boot-Up?

To use PC Restore:

1 Turn on the computer. During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

2 Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press <Ctrl><F11>. If you do not press <Ctrl><F11> in time, let the computer finish starting, and then restart the computer again.

NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.

3 On the next screen that appears, click Restore.

4 On the next screen, click Confirm. The restore process takes approximately 6–10 minutes to complete.

5 When prompted, click Finish to reboot the computer.

NOTE: Do not manually shut down the computer. Click Finish and let the computer completely reboot.

6 When prompted, click Yes.

The computer restarts. Because the computer is restored to its original operating state, the screens that appear, such as the End User License Agreement, are the same ones that appeared the first time the computer was turned on.

7 Click Next. The System Restore screen appears and the computer restarts.

8 After the computer restarts, click OK.

You mean the SpeedStep can be disable? May I know how and where? Bios?
Thanks.

Found my answer here:
Q: Turning off SpeedStep in the BIOS seems to have no effect whatsoever upon the machine's ability to change the CPU rate. How do you disable SpeedStep. I am using WinXP. A: You must have it turned off in the BIOS and in WinXP. If you go into the Power Applet in Control Panel and select the Always On option it will disable Speed Step. Right click your desktop > Click properties > Click Screen Saver > Power button > Change the Power Scheme to always on.

Anyway, thanks.

This issue suddenly comes to my mind, by disabling the SpeedStep your battery power will be consumed faster.

Correct me if I am wrong, thanks.
