Suggest you don't format the Recovery Partition; if you mess the C: drive up, you should be able to use F8 to recover your Vista.

The customer service guy I chatted with said that the recovery partition won't work once I format the OS, saying that the boot record is changed already. I don't really understand what he means ...

Ok let me embark on this risky experiment haha.

Why don't you backup with Acronis before you embark on your experiment.

You can revert back to Vista if things don't go right.

thx!

seems to be a difficult process.....

The 2 screws securing the hinge cover are hidden in the battery compartment.

After removing the hinge cover, you have to remove 2 screws (top of keyboard) before you can lift the keyboard.

Be very careful, the ribbon cable and keyboard are very delicate.

guess a vacuum cleaner would do the job better

1. Put a plastic netting over the keyboard before you start the vacuum cleaner; otherwise your key buttons may disappear.

2. Reduce the suction power of vacuum cleaner.

Another idea would be to use a Compressed air spray can. Should come with a little thin tube. Stick it into any crevice in the laptop and blast away. Will probably get clean areas even a vacuum cleaner cannot. More effective:s13: .

The 4 pin only carry data. The hard disk need power; you need a power adapter.

Actually it will be good if we can get keyboard protector or cover to prevent all the dust from accumulating in the keyboard. Prevention is better than cure. Only thing is dun know where got sell ...
