700m is small because its almost a subnote and meant for really mobile users who move around lot.

6000 is a workhorse unit. More for use as a desktop and occasional movement.

I find the 6000 is neither here nor there.

Limited to a max upgrade of X300 128mb which pretty much takes it out of the running as a gaming machine. Not exactly light-weight either.

It compromises on the power of the 9300 series, and mobility of the 700m series.

If u die die must have the 15.4" widescreen, suggest:

x300 64mb (u'll see negligable performance diff btwn 64 / 128mb)
SXGA+ screen (this is a personal preference, but WXGA is too low rez while UWXGA makes the icons too small for most people unless u rescale which defeats the purpose of high-rez in the first place.)

more ram for those multiple torrents and a 1.6-1.8 third generation mobile-m with 533mhz fsb.

700m + desktop offers the most flexibility. One to bring to school/work, the other to play games on large screen and better graphics. Comes out to the same price as a stacked T43 anyways.

So far for ultraportables, I've found the older X30 series and 700m to be perfect. There are lighter and smaller laptops, but like the X40 series, they trade off with slower, lower voltage Pentium-M processors, or weaker battery life.

Shld I extend the warranty to 3yrs if I get the 700m?

Does it spoil easily after 1 year usage?

**Feel that the additional few hundred bucks is abit too much, must well buy the Asus M5N.

Can any Dell Inspiron 9300 User who had upgraded the screen to WXGA tell me more abt ur views...
Due to its 17-inch wide, will it be very reflective and causes uncomfortable when viewing/working? eg: under bright light, outdoor. (which had bigger area of viewing but also bigger area to had reflection)
I had saw a display set 9300 @ Suntec which is the normal anti-glare screen and Dell 700m with 12-inch WXGA glare-type screen. The screen is clearer color and shaper image definition but reflective. I like the WXGA screen but my worries for a 17-inch (for Dell 9300) wif glare-type will it be very uncomfortable? I hope someone from Dell Inspiron 9300 User can solve or share ur views...

Any Dell Inspiron 9300 User had DIY upgraded your RAM memory? What is the brand, and types to upgrade? abt how much? (which comparable to the one in the system) Which shop to recommand in SIMLIM had best worth buy?

Im also thinking of using portable harddisk than upgrade the system Dell 9300 harddisk capacity. Is it more advisable? Which Brands and wat to look-out when buying portable harddisk? (the casing, speed, HDD brand...etc...)

i apologize for the so many questions asked.... =:p
Hope someone can advise me. - MIC

Anyone know how to see if the battery i got is a 4 cell or 8 cell batt?

i got a 700m delivered today and requested they change the 4 cell to an 8 cell.
it's not written anywhere on the batt itself.
Thanks.
