I just came back from suntec city. I just saw the inspiron 6000 and 630m and decided to buy the 630m as it is not so bulky as compared to 6000. I will buy during the Sitek show as promotion is better during the show.

Dell support owns, contrary to my previous beliefs.

My keyboard escape key fell off, and I managed to get it fixed for free.

I made an appointment to meet at 4:30pm, and I was a little late as I was out with my friends at the arcade. Running through the rain, I reached home less than 5 minutes over 4:30.

Dell guy was waiting patiently outside the house.

He subsequently replaced the keyboard in less than 10 minutes.

Dell ftw.

I agree.
My keyboard "L" key somehow popped out... called Dell and they sent their technical support down to my shop the next day to replace the whole keyboard.
No questions asked. Good service.

but.... are damaged keys frequent with dell keyboards???
Cos my previous Fujitsu E7010... nv had a problem with the keyboard in all of my 3 yrs +.

not in my case..

My brother Dell 6000 vid card(mobility radeon 9000) driver got prob, cant play KoToR.

So, he email dell to update driver. No reponse. email again, unfortunately got automated reply, cannot play.

then i got my Acer (dont mean to troll) laptop. used a radeon 9700. Also got prob with KotoR. So i email Acer about prob, and within 2 days, they updated the drivers and KoToR could work again.

I know this may not be true for all cases, but my brother seems to be unlucky this once.

Not pinpointing Dell in particular, but i just hate it when company's give automated responses. Really pisses me(and eveyone else, im sure) off.

why not search the dell support forums. There may already be a solution to your problem.

hi hi

new to this thread,
my dell desktop died 2 weeks ago due to hard disk failure...

Thought of getting one more desk top but then again, feel that having a note book is better as it is more portable and i can do my work and surf the net at macdonalds. :s13:

Actually i am not a gamer or one who need the PC/lap top for many reason, just basically MSN, watch DVD, listen to MP3, and maybe upload photos into my lap top/PC (so a SD slot is important). I also need 2-3 USB ports for "mouse", "external floopy disc drive" and my "thumb drive" and of course having an eternet port for my cable modem....

Went to Dell's web site fell in love with the Inspiron 6000 and click on all the "dell" recommend stuffs... it comes up to $2476.95.. its far beyond by $2000 budget!!!

I heard that having the XP Professional is better than Home Edition?
Can explain?

I also heard that Having Professional Edition is important or else i wun get the basic features of powerpoint, excel, words right? Even if i dun choose the professional edition, i still have to at least choose the "office baisc edition' right?

Really dilema now... Dunno shd i just go and buy a desk top instead and save the $$$??? :s11:

Really need the advise of experts here... As i am not very IT savvy

I just need the basic functions and preferbably something stylo (silver casing) and reliable....

So desktop or note book?>
And is dell the best answer? (i know its kinda stupid cause i am in a dell threat)
but seriously give your frank opinions (can send me thru PM)
coz i personally think that a Hxxxxxx Pxxxxxx and Txxxxxx are not bad for a note book too....

a desktop is only if you wish to have it fixed at a location. You sure cant bring it to macdonalds for work/surfing. A laptop can go anywhere with you, pretty much more versatile.

You don't need to get all their "recommended" stuff. Most of them are enhancements you can live without.

yes, based on his requirements, the standard package would do fine.

I just received call from dell and expecting delivery tomorrow. I'm not sure whether getting my ram 256mb as stated in their web site as 2x256 or only 1x256mb. Anybody can check dell web site and confirm. Thanks.
