Yucks the delivery sounds sad. Does Dell have self collection option?
Well, most delivery contractors are like that. They have no idea what's in the box and they don't care either. They don't have to. They just make sure the label on the box matches the delivery order and deliver to the right address. They are just postman. Dead pixel? Deal with Dell (or whatever company). The delivery guy have no process for returning an opened box with faulty product.
I have ordered from other online shops before (Creative, Amazon, etc.), all delivery process are like that. But some are really a lot more professional -- they call you first (maybe a day before) to confirm address and time, they appear promptly, they are courteous, they patiently wait when you check the box label and they helpfully point to you what numbers to match, and they say thank you with a smile.
To be fair, I ordered from Dell 4 times, some are good, but that one bad experience really left a bad taste. Guess it's a matter of luck. So I am cautious (eg. choose a day time delivery) to avoid such problem again. (By the way, all 4 came in perfect condition. All specs matches, no dead pixel, no problem at all.)
