yup. I used the Singapore Dell Website. The specs are taken from the site after I made the customization. Price is S$3049. Any suggestions for improvement of the specs?

Nope... did not choose any of the above, as the config was for the Latitude 640.... now if the M1210 has fingerprint recognition will be almost perfect for me...

You can do this:

1. Create Image of C: partition on DVDs using Acronis 7.0 (hopefully your C: is not too big)

2. Replace old hard disk with new

3. Boot up Acronis 7.0 with Bootable Rescue CD

4. Remove Bootable Rescue CD

5. Put in last DVD (the one that contain the image of your C: partition) and start your recovery.

5 Hours flat(not rounded up), Min Brightness, Wifi On(Lowest Setting), surfing internet.

got approx same batt life as u. solid enough. switch off wifi can last even longer. song ah!

Hmnn... i tried a few IDE to USB cables, but most having prob wif the USB Dos driver...

Some 2.5" and 3.5" casing also give such problem.

somehow i dun need to load any usb driver in dos, ghost8 just detects my usb hdd. tried on several casings already

anyway if still cannot, u can try to create your own bartpe cd, since it uses w2k3 sp1 or xp sp2, u can put in your usb drivers needed, as long as windows can see the drive. ghost8 is supposed to be able run inside the bartpe enirvornment

I can't really remember but i think i read somewhere before that if i try to partition a dell harddisk, the hidden recovery partition will not work? Is this true?

Will the harddisk be still covered in the warranty of it spoiled after the partitioning? Thanks.

A format of the C: partition will damage the Master Boot record (MBR). After that you will not be able to use Ctrl+F11 to recover your computer to Factory Default.

If you mess up your O/S, use the Windows XP CD provided to reinstall Windows. Drivers are in the Drivers and Utilities CD.

I've format and re-partition the hard disk on my Inspiron 6400.

Created C: partition for O/S and programs

Created D: partition to for data and My Documents

Created Hidden partition (the yellow partition) with Image of my C: drive.

But if i use partition magic, i thought i can just simply partition the existing c drive into 2 or more partition with the OS and all data still intact in c drive??

You mean it will still format the harddisk? Or you mean partition magic will have to format the entire harddisk before it split the partition then i got to install os again?

If you use PartitionMagic, you might get away with it; it does'nt format the C: drive.

I've not don't it before; I did a clean install.

Let me know the result after you add the partition. I'm very keen to know.

Sorry, not to familiar with the express card.... Cos I may be settling for the XPS M1210... but the latitude series has a docking station for attaching to my office equipment like printer, network, monitor, keyboard,etc. but can't seem to buy such a station separately in Dell, and wonder if the XPS has anything that is similar.... Thx
