Yes, I got the 640M as well online during Sitex and also got free Mcafee security center, but I think it was for 3 months. Did not really take note of period as I uninstalled it already and used other security softwares.

Can I also check why is it that when I surf HWZ webpages, the screen loading is slow from top to bottom? And using page up/down or up/down buttons will cause very laggy scrolling of the webpage, why is that so?

Other websites are ok though....

Got my Dell 6400 today and exploring it now..
I read in the Owner's maunual for Dell INspiron 6400/E1505:
Pg 43 under Charging the Battery.
Note: Without Dell ExpressCharge, the AC adapter charges a completely ........
You can leave the battery in the computer as long as you like. The battery's internal circuitry prevents the battery from overcharging.

My Question:
Do you guys leave your notebook's battery in all the time even when using you are connected to an electrica output?

My understanding from what is stated in Pg43 is it seems alright to leave the battery in. Plus i realised one piece of rubber 'stand/support is attached to the battery cover, thus removing the battery will make the notebook unbalance when placing it on table.

In view of the 3 legged problem and the location of the battery in the coolest corner of the computer,
I've decided to leave the battery in.

You'll realise that DELL user do not compliant about heat issue or invest in notebook cooler because of good ventilation design.

But I do use a notebook cooler, helps to bring the temp down even further

Yeah, I have the battery in as well in favour of a more stable notebook. I think the engineer has designed the dell notebook really well, dun have heat problem even when I on it for hours. When plug into the power supply and battery already fully charged, the notebook is smart enough to detect that. Very happy with my Dell 6400 so far.

I turn ON my 6400 at 08:00 and OFF is at about 00:00; no heat problem at all.

My Core temperature is always around 43 degrees.

so that means my laptop cooler have to suck out the air instead of blowing onto my laptop... :s11:

Correct, the air-cooler must suck/exhaust the air from the bottom of notebook.

U sure? i can feel that the air from my 640m is blow out from the left side, so the air shld be suck in from the bottom....

Upgraded my laptop liao, no more Latitude D505 but D620 now...
More power but...same weight, damn...

yes i agree, sleek and professional, one of the best looking ones in the latitude series.

But according to the Dell servicing engineer, the new series very difficult to fix, most of the time need to open up the whole machine to fix. Once he change the motherboard for D620, unscrew and open the whole machine to pieces... the new machine very ke lian... it's not as easy as D600 and D610 if any of you guys have experience

Especially for D420, change HDD only also very difficuly cos it's right under the touch pad, and it's connected by cable.
