There is no service centre. It's outsourced to a local company. Generally for anything that can't be fixed over the phone, a tech will come and replace parts. I have bought about 30 Dells for my comapny cos of this great service & support. One call and they come down, saves me the hassle of going to service centres. BTW, I buy everything with 3yr complete cover - once crapped a 6400 cos upgraded ram while it was in standby (closed case with battery still in, forgot next day and added ram module) Dell sent a new laptop no questions asked after running thru diagnostics over the phone which showed memory error.

okay, could someone tell me again how to check if that my battery isn't overcharged?

my NHC says 100%, and battery status high only. so how to confirm its not charging the already "full" battery?

Check battery charge status Fn+F3; the battery will not over-charge because of protection circuit.

You can check you battery condition by removing it and pressing the test button; each led is 20%:

Dell best service.

Is true, i had a very best service from dell. The best part is, if you don't like the product, you can return back within 30 days of purchase and money back. Others brand will show you middle finger.

Just got my XPS 1210 a few weeks back... got some problem with IP settings, then cannot solve and managed to get 1-to-1 exchange... sp servie from Dell till now still good...

Now another issue... I bought the game Total War: Medieval II... but after installing and tried running... got the error msg that Total War has encountered an unspecified error and will now end... same msg even after I got another copy of the game... anyone has similar experience? Hope it's not the laptop again... spent quite some time setting it up...

is there any way to disable DirectMedia. So that it wont automatically activate when I put in a VCD/DVD. I prefer using media player or real player

I've got a confession to make.

I used to off my workstation(rig) during my nap or sleep time
But with this laptop, the only sounds is the surrondings.

Astonishingly silent.

Oh yea, any user here leave it on for more than 24 hrs already? Whats your feedback? as in any problems when you use after 24 hrs?

WTS: XP Professional SP2

I've a few copies of Dell only XP Professional SP2, anybody interested pls PM me.

So far I've tried installed on Latitudes only. Not very sure if can install on other series.

Only for Dell so no license key is provided.

Since it's only for Dell only so posted in Dell thread instead of marketplace

Guys, got something up.
does your laptop cover lid goes lose when you close and open frequently? what happens if it goes loose? does it take up the "accidental damage" cover?

Thanks in advance for replies regarding the topic

Ah no, sorry, I was just wondering what to do when such thing occurs. Its working fine, just need to be sure when something like that crops up. Does the spring count as a "valid-used-warrenty"? Whereby i cannot change any hardware for future accidents?

If my questions are weird, please inform me, I'll try to rephrase better LOL.
