Reinstallation

I've just got my dell 6400 laptop yesterday night and i'm thinking of reinstalling everything with windows XP.

The question i have in mind is whether the system/graphic drivers provided are for vista. If thats the case, is it necessary to download the xp drivers instead from the net?

Thanks!

This is relatively new.

You should call them to confirm.

Support telephone number is on your tax invoice.

Have your Service Tag ready before you call (it's under your notebook)

Ok called them. They said it was Vista version and i had to redownload the XP versions. Guess it's quite a hassle to install XP. :(

I think laptop normally have a life of only about 2-3 years then its time for new one lol. Not that it will be dead on u but it will be almost there and everything will seem to be obsolete. So use it while u can hehe.

Just pop in the Windows Home CD that dell gave you, format it into 3 partitions, one for windows, another for pagefile, last for backup.

E.g 60Gb
40gb, 3Gb, 17GB.

Why is there partition for 'recovery" , "os" if Dell has also provided the installation CD rom..
