i dun noe. its just a guess. Tink ur GT should be better than GS though. lol.

anyway the windows experience thing isnt really reliable one lah. The factors contributing to it may be a little weird i guess. Maybe you update your driver you will get another different number

What driver by the way?

Hey, actually i dun noe much about the windows experience index. But i do believe its slightly flawed. (please do not quote me, im a newbie too) i think u can google it. there are quite a lot of forums/articles about it.

Anyway... according to http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-1035_11-6165086.html

The first of the two graphics card scores, the Graphics sub-score, indicates how well a computer will run Windows Aero and play back Windows Media video. This measurement is based on the amount and bandwidth of dedicated video memory, as well as DirectX 9 support and the capability of the card’s WDDM Driver (Windows Vista Display Driver Model).

The second of the graphics card scores, the Gaming Graphics sub-score, is based on the frames per second at which the graphics card can handle different textures. Other factors that contribute to this sub-score include Direct 3D 9 support and Pixel Shader 3.0 support.

This site has a discussion how why a person's graphic score dropped from 3.6 to 2.0 even though he dun remember doing anything. but there isnt really a conclusion i guess.

For those who had ordered the 1420...what was ur waiting time ?

I ordered during the launch on 30th June and it delivered on 19th July.

But from 01 to the 22nd July week, the price for the same configuration was lowered than what I had paid....sent an email to highlight my displeasure on the long waiting time plus price reduction during the period.

Hey, just got my dell laptop. Inside got this recovery drive (partition) of 10gb. Is it required or helpful? can i just remove that partition? The material in that drive can all be found in the cds right?

Also, disk management shows that there is another 2.5gb parition which is has no drive letter. Is that the dell mediadirect harddrive?

Also, i tried to reduce the size of my C drive, and then create a new partition out of the unutilized space, but it would say that there is not enough hard disk space. Why is this so? Help?
Thank You.

Thank You.

You cannot make the C: drive too small.

You need space for Paging Files and Hibenation.

The Recovery partition can recover your C: partition to Factory Default in 6 to 10 minutes.

It'll take you many hours to recover with the CDs.

Note: Recovery partition once deleted cannot be recovered.
