how's ur ruby red coming along? i see that you've been 'tearing it apart'.. hahaa... btw, just last weekend, i brought mine out for movie marathon!! After fully charged, lasted me almost 3-4 hrs just watching DVD in the car. heh.

however, have got a problem. i seemed to need to 'add' my bluetooth mouse everytime i turn on the notebook. even if it's put to sleep mode, when it 'wakes' up, need to add the bluetooth mouse again.

I received mine this evening, now feeling very upset and cheated. 2 rows of keypad not working (the QWER and ZXCV row). I can't even hit "ENTER" key and one side of "SHIFT" key works the other doesn't. I can't believe Dell's QC is so poor and I have to call service centre 1 day after getting my NEW notebook.

Actually didn't expect to encounter any problem and so wasn't thinking of the need for detailed checks. But because of my experience, I came out with a super KS checklist to check anything and everything I can think of.

Chklist
--------
1. Place sits flat on a flat, level surface, make sure notebook sits flat and all feet contact surface (ie no warping)
2. Open the lid and make sure it still sits flat.
3. Turn it on and verify system info delievered against order list
4. Dead Pixels Test
5. USB Ports Test (2 on each side, just use thumbdrive to test)
6. S-video - connect to TV
7. Video connection - connect to external CRT/LCD
8. DVD drive - Test both read/write for CDR/DVDR
9. HDD (120GB) - scan for bad sector
10. Web Camera
11. Wireless connection
12. Bluetooth -- I connect to my handphone
13. Lan cable
14. Card reader
15. headphone

Didn't test
1. phone modem
2. express card slot
3. IEEE connector

Just received my Vostro 1500. I am pleased with the laptop except the LCD screen. It is terrible when in white background. The screen is not fully white; there are a large patch at bottom screen in grey colour.

Is this called 'grainy' screen and could I ask for a replacement from DELL?
