Heat issue?

Hello folks....been a long time since i've posted.


This post is another issue im concerned with.





The circled area.....

(Im just taking pictures from webby......but still an 6400 nontheless)

Its very hot when i touch it just a few moments ago.....and i just notice it....

the rest of the screen weren't as hot as the are....

so do i need to take any precaution, or worst, i need to reduce work load on my laptop?

It's normal; that's the location of the CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) or invertor (the part that create the high voltage for the CCFL.

Hmm guys, eh i kinda goin to get a 2nd hand dell laptop for some work and a slight gaming purposes. Mind if u guys can help me check with the specs mentioned below, is it a gd laptop?

Dell Inspiron 6000
Intel Pentium M Processor 750 (1.86GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
512 MB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz
100GB HDD
64MB Radeon X300
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

Thanks mate, i was playing some games when by chance touched the area and ouch....its like 60 degrees hot

But aside, how much heat can the plastic and the Cathode take? It IS within the standards of safety right?

erms....its already a good set up..way better than mine, im still using GMA


But i did recommend having more RAM.

However, if you feel up to the job, then purchase 1 Gb or more at sls and DIY lor.

Just wondering. Have the quality of Dell laptops improved since the past? Lots of people would usually not recommend Dell laptops. Even I myself used to. But are things different now? Seems lot of people recommend the M1330 especially lately. Quality better?

By droping it twice from knee level.....(your POV) still in working condition.

Overall....if i gotch more money sure hammer away lots of RAM and hdd.....CUM the fastest gfx card

Hey thanks for replying. I was also kinda considering increasing the RAM when i got more money. Btw can i ask is there any other ways tat can change the motherboard/processors or graphic cards in the laptop?

For gfx....better just get the latest one if its a laptop.

YOu cannot change the motherboard or gfx once you're done with the purchase.

Just get the best gfx....2 gb ram...or more....

My infrared thermometer shows temperature of no more than 42 degrees.

Happened to come across
this thread and was wondering if based on the configuration, how come it's cheaper than normal. Anyone know what's that about?

For gfx....better just get the latest one if its a laptop.

YOu cannot change the motherboard or gfx once you're done with the purchase.

Just get the best gfx....2 gb ram...or more....

If not, just buy a DIY desktop rig via sls.

its always better to spurge on higher end performance (more money more performance) on laptop.
