Your interpretation's correct. Your computer is using AC power when plugged in at 100% battery life. Some say that the battery charging circuit is cut off, but from what you've experienced, if that's the case, why're you feeling the heat of your battery generating when it's "on AC power at 100% battery"? That's a seed of doubt to think about.

I'm not sure of anyone who can prove the fact that using fully-charged battery with AC power is really harming your battery. Personally I'd take out the battery. As what you see in retail shops, the battery's removed.

Refreshing your battery allows your battery to know it's actual capacity of charging fully, instead of having half-charge to full-charge cycles, which would mess up the actual timing of it's lasting. I learnt this from Diavonex, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, i`ve read that there's a auto sensor circuit in the charger itself and will cut off supply when fully charged. But doubt its actually working because it feels hot and like u said, a doubt indeed. Even myself Electronics student also puzzled? hehe

Hmmmmm... according to ur last para on the explanation of refreshing battery. Ur're saying to let it drain completely then recharge instead of like half cap den re-charge? Kinda confusing haha..

just a quick update, Dell send their technician to replace my motherboard after i feedback my screen flickers. Now monitoring the screen, but good thing is the whinning is gone!

been using the vostro 1500 for nearly a month. yesterday just realised that the bluetooth got problem! called the dell support but not able to help me over phone.

now waiting to download the 96mb bluetooth drivers!!!

Hi guys, I recently bought dell laptop inspiron 1420.. but mine is only 2GB ram (2 x 1GB)

I start to feel some lagness with the computer programe... I thought I want to change it to 4GB ram (2 x 2GB).

However, I do not know how to see my ram type.. and the cost of the ram...

so i'm thinking about..

1) What is the ram type of my computer?
2) How much does it cost to buy 2 x 2 GB ram
3) Is there such a thing like ram kit ? is there any different types?
4) What brand of ram is recommanded?

Never heard of RAM kit. A lot of different types. But laptops uses SoDimm (shorter version) and depending on time, it differs from SDRAM to DDR to DDR2.

4) What brand of ram is recommanded?
The brand doesn't matter. The chipset does e.g. Kingston and NPC both uses Elpida chipset so both brands can work if your mobo accepts.

I'm wondering do SL take in my 2 X 1 GB ram and reduce the price for the new ram..

Most of the time, they dun. U can try selling off on ebay (but ram prices darn cheap now). It will help to bring ur laptop along and test on the spot. Or u can open up the case and see the chipset. I suggest bringing ur laptop down for added piece of mind. Test on the spot.

Some retailers do have their concerns for users.

Makers like Kingston do not have their own DRAM foundry, they only assemble DRAM ICs onto their PCB designs. As such there might be some compatibility issues.

Makers like Hynix have their own foundry to produce DRAM and the capabilities to assemble a RAM module as well. Compatibility issues are minimal but their DRAMs ICs are used almost everywhere

Transcend on the other hand is known for being a specialized RAM module maker which adheres to the strict specifications needed by certain proprietary hardware. Thus the premium price for performance.

I've change HDD many times.

Decided to go back to 3.5" external HDD because of the lower cost per GB.

Just a confirmation check izzit Dell had increased the price of upgrading the 6 Cell battery to 9 Cell battery by a big jump ?

The upgrade cost is now $233.36 for the upgrade.
Last week was only $30++ did i see it wrongly
