is it worth it?

or U2312HM 23inch at $269?

its only 1inch different... is it really better?

do note that other than 1" different, if im not wrong, the aspect ratio also diff. 24" is 16:10 while 23" is 16:9 if im not wrong.. depends what u need. bought 2312 one during the last show and still loving it. really like the matte screen cos a lot other monitors all glossy screens.

realised the price didn't drop over the year.

yup 5 years premium warranty for $255, pretty decent for a good monitor i guess. only downside is the lack of hdmi port and i gotta shop for a dvi to hdmi cable!

just get a HDMI-DVI adaptor since you already got a free HDMI cable ...

dun risk getting hdmi-displayport adaptor or cable ...
may not work
i tried hdmi from SH HD box into Dell Displayport input ...
does not work !

16:10 is more suitable for work, text, browser whereas 16:9 more for games and movies.

the difference between U2312M & U2412M is not only 1 inch but 120 pixels vertically. A 16:10 display is wide enough to hold two full size word documents side by side.

I run dual 24" U2412M and have never regretted the decision although I could get the U2312M cheaper because larger screen estate matters in the long run.


additional note: you can always resize a 24" 16:10 display to a 23" 16:9 format but not the other way round.

it is worth it... I still remembered my 19" Philip CRT monitor cost me $999 in those days and mind you it is special trade-in price where I had to trade with an older monitor. So the price difference is negligible to me, somemore a 24" IPS LED monitor that cost $369 is affordable.

Whether 4:3 going to extinct or not is not a problem.

Oh shucks. I just ordered the dvi to hdmi cable online for $13 locally, too lazy to wait for eBay shipping.

Hopefully it works cause sitex display sets were using the dvi to hdmi cable!

Cry loh... But when I bought mine, was able to check for dead pixels on Friday. Was a Newstead booth.

just call Dell to arrange for an exchange but you have to tell the Dell CSO you want a brand new one for 1-1 exchange, if not they will push you a refurbished set.

i'd only asked one of them if can test, Newstead ... they said ok but must pay $ ... i got their assurance if any problem with pixel can change on the spot, they said ok ... so i bot
no asked for freebies/discount ...

best u do early and not wait till near closing ... might be busy and so will not entertain any testing ...

i always insist on testing on the spot ...
never know if they will send u a refurbished set ...
and they actually don't have to entertain one rite since (i think) they do not have a 0 pixel policy ...

i just bought a U2312HM monitor from sitex.The guy say it a 5 yr warrenty monitor..But the invoice does not state anything about the warrenty..So how does dell know how many yr warrenty is the monitor?
