I am thinking of downsizing my speakers from JBL LSR305PMkII to something smaller/compact.

I am looking at iLoud MTM or Creative Katana V2x. Not sure what do you guys think?

I don't think you can save much space by going iLoud MTM. Total both speakers combined you will save 11cm of width. Really can't squeeze that much space? :s13:

By changing to a sound bar you can save on left and right space but you need space in front of your monitor instead, which can be just as precious.

Haha, thinking to convert from a 34inch monitor to having a 32inch and 27inch vertical monitor.

Just exploring options and wondering if changing to more compact MTM or Katana options, will I be worse off in the sound department.

With MTM you will technically get a better sound, albeit at a much higher price tag too. However whether you will enjoy the sound as much as 305P is maybe 50-50 chance. Note that iLoud MTM volume max out at around 90dB so if you play loud enough to have hearing loss you should choose something else.

Katana... At best it will sound as good if you're lucky. For starters you will be able to hear where the subwoofer is (sound coming from your left or your right) because the crossover frequency is set very high due to the small drivers, this can be unacceptable to some people.

Depend on how wide your table is and how far is your sitting position from the speakers. The nearer you are to speakers, the smaller the speakers need to be. My speaker is 20 cm wide and need at least 60 cm space to sound good, but they truly only sing if I sit another further meter away.

If your sitting distance around 20-30 cm away then good idea to keep the speaker not wider than 15 cm. I don't know how the MTM sounds, but it seems to fit the bill. The other one you could consider is Elac Debut Connex. I tested it and they are excellent active speakers, though need a sub to cover the lower frequencies.

Pretty good, pairing with SVS micro 3000.

however, do go and audition yourself first, previously I’m using audio engine A5+, but feel that the fives have more power, better vocals etc. AE5+ is a pretty good pair of speaker, might wanna buy a subwoofer first and complement it before making the decision to buy another speaker

If you ask about this 2 or 3 years ago, yes, under 1K pretty much A5+ was the only decent recommendation. Since then so many options have came out that are superior to A5+. I posted my impressions a few pages back, you can go Adelphi to try them out.

I like to thank everyone who has contributed so much in my journey to get my next speakers.

I have learnt a lot from everyone here and decided to get LS50 wireless 2. It is a pair of pretty good speakers.

Thank you.
Nice, are you getting KC62 to match with it too?

Haha maybe we did see each other in real life before. I bought one of my fitears from jp (Aya snow). Now my partner is a Japanese.

btw, love the ak120, I still keep it till today.

I have: tg333, tg334, MH334, C435, Aya snow,

Well, KC62 is meant to go along with Kef speakers...

But at the price point of KC62 you can consider a Rel or Velodyne as well. I think something like Rel T9X would be a good match for LS50 II. Go and try them yourselves, don't just read up online reviews.

The active crossover has arrived. Just started to experiment integrating my existing subwoofer with the stereo setup.

Anyone here got step-by-step guide on how to integrate subwoofer to stereo setup that you're very comfortable with? Wanted to cross check what I am doing with some references. (Yup, I have google searched and read/watch quite a bit of materials the past couple of days).

Thus far this is what I have experimented with:
1. Tried a few XO points to see which ones gives the smoothest bass, and help fill out dips in the bass region if possible.
2. Tried a few delay settings (phase) to see which ones gives the smoothest bass, and help fill out dips in the bass region if possible.
3. Played around with the subwoofer bandwidth setting to which ones gives the smoothest bass, and helps fill out dips in the bass region.
4. Line up subwoofer gain such that the dips are near the target curve (without pushing the sub too far)
5. Use PEQ to hammer down the peaks to be near the target curve.

Any advice/pointer/suggestion would be appreciated...

Temporarily settled on the following settings:
Active crossover = 70Hz
Sub bandwidth = 120Hz
Sub delay = 0ms
Sub freq extension = 20Hz (up from 14Hz)
Sub damping = High (changed from Med)

So hardcore, I just set crossover and volume and that's it, haha.
