thanks folks! I tried a DIY indoor antenna (basically, just ran the coaxial cable to the window) but the tuner still didn't catch anything... are tuners regional locked?

when mine is scanning, it runs through a list that says DTV Terrestrial 1, 2, 3, 4, etc... (I suppose it should be showing Channel 8, 5, Suria, etc) right?

coaxial cable dont have much gain, get a decent antenna listed in the previous post

different tv have different way to telling you what it is trying to scan

coaxial cable itself cannot act as antenna, you have to do some modification. Actually quite straight forward.

This DIY antenna has 3db gain.

strip away 13 cm of outer casing of cable

seperate the braided wire from the center wire and twist them together

use clip to keep the shape

Wat do you mean by 'signal Quality 100% ?? Got display but Pixeling, Freezing or, Grainyness ???
I think you are confused between Signal Strength Vs Signal Quality
oh I'm just basing it off whatever the TV mentioned.

I supposed it is Signal Strength.. the tuner doesn't memorise the channel... so I don't see anything. I get all the analogue signals fine though

Hi Guy

Just checking, any one know how much space is needed for recording a 3 hour tv/movie show using KONKA Digital TV Set Top Box or NewMedia Solutions Digital TV Set Top Box. Called their office to check, they can't answer me.

Looking to either buy an USB thumb drive or portable hard-disk for recording some drama for my mother.

Hopefully an 64G thumb drive is sufficient for a 3 hours tv/movie hour.

Thank

Can't recall how much disk space is needed for 1hr of recording but I was using 32GB thumb drive. I recorded a number of hrs of varies duration programmes and still got space left so 64GB is more than sufficient to meet your needs.

4GB per hour of HD channel recording

64GB should store about 16 hours

one thing to note though, thumbdrive have limited write cycles, so that means it will eventually fail if you do recording and erasing the videos frequently

Your are welcome.

The figure mentioned by PoloBoiBoi is a good guideline. For my STB, the diskspace taken for a 30mins recording vary from 1.8 to 2.0GB in size.

Hmm, noticed that the test and radio channel is gone today, more changes on the way?
