The Indonesia forest fires unleash millions of tons of carbon into the atmosphere . Why we pay more for aviation SAF , biofuel , all these green nonsense ? Drop in the bucket .

They have an uncanny knack for creating policies that have unintended consequences down the road. But I am not sure if it is a uniquely Singaporean trait since I am sure that you could dig up examples of governments elsewhere with similar phuck-ups.

But at least I would have hoped that with higher salaries, we would have the least of these phuck-ups globally.

In any case, my more important measure is BVR planning. I'll be the first to sing their praises if they have beyond the horizon planning and anticipation. That is a combination of Fingerspitzengefühl and governance & cognitive framework, institutional architectures etc. I think Singapore has a bit of them but we're not as high functioning relative to the renumeration that we are paying

Buy plastic bags from PDD, few cents each. It's so silly because the bags now become single use, in the past they were at least doubly used, first to bag something home and then used again for trash.

Next up, we should have CBRS (Cigarette Butt Return Scheme)
For every cigarette butt return to the machine, 10 cents will be reimbursed.

This will promote clean environment as smokers will not simply throw the butt into bushes.
And other non-smoker can go around picking up cigarette butt for refund.
Singapore will be squeaky clean in no time.

These BCRS machines are like incubator for all kinds of bacteria and fungus, thanks to half finished sugary drink cans, a hazardous site of nasty pathogens...

Not just that, the opening and closing of the feeding mechanism, causes the air to be pushed out and thus it is akin to the vending machine breathing that air to the one returning the containers.

There a reason why rubbish centers are cleaned regularly/daily.

Good try, actually that means the uncle has no dementia yet as he can come out with the idea of easy money. Imagine he is successful, 1000 times of this trick, he makes a cool $100 already
