Just read an article about a foreign worker that was electrocuted to death while working.
They had a tough time in Singapore while working.
0.10 cents here and there does not make any difference to us .
Just give chances to them .
Try to give $2 to the rubbish workers in your area because they got much more waste from people ordering from e-commerce , boxes, plastic bubble …..

If foreigners earn so much from collecting bottles, TS can also do . Why need to create the thread?

I saw a 30-40s Chinese guy peeping into dustbin when I walked past him and he quickly changed his composure pretending doing something else.

Not just foreigners, young and old also go dig the dustbin for extra cash.
You have to hope you don't get sick digging trash can.
I even see a a more power auntie go one building top level to basement.
Dig every dustbin including the big one at basement. 🤦‍♂️

I was wondering if TS is suggesting that foreign workers make a good living while collecting cans and bottles.
What if the foreign workers make $3000 a month and $36000 side income in a year .
Is IRAS going to collect Income tax from it ?
If the foreign workers collect collectively and collect at least $1 million.
Is IRAS going to collect GSt as well .
After all, the 0.10 was collected from us beforehand.
I am quite sure TS was wondering the Loss of taxes for our country.
Well Done !
BCRS sourced income is not taxable as it is considered a deposit refund - even if the collector is not the one who placed the deposit.

It is cost neutral to the government since taxes (gst) was already paid on the item

They pivot very fast.

First they came here to dig through all our blue bins and textile recycling bins to find clothings that they can bring back and sell second-hand.

Now they turn to drinks containers.

Or maybe they are doing both.

And if gahmen neber requires the specific bar codes, we will confirm see thousands of foreigners coming in daily with millions of drinks containers from their motherlands to "recycle" in Singapore.

i saw a bangala carting 3 full trash bags of cans/plastic bottles and getting 12 dollars at lau pa sat.

3 FULL BIG trash bags, for 12 dollars.

thats a great tradeoff, they get to earn some pocket money and help us recycle the bottles/cans.

and for 12 dollars, its an amount small enough not many would do it but those bangalas and aunties/uncles would. So no one is "fighting" for these recyclables.

whats the problem here?
Some ppl here rather laze around and let the radish rot in the ground than to let other ppl earn.

Nothing wrong. In Europe, where this nonsense was badly copied from, there are people digging up trash cans to find such bottles, especially at tourists spots where tourists do not know of the recycling machines which are commonly found in supermarkets. And if you look at these people, mostly are middle eastern
